One of the best professors at UCLA! He cares for all his students and gives so many accommodations. He is so understanding and is always there for his students. The way he teaches is just amazing and very clear. I love him so much and **********000000% recommend everyone to take his class.
Took this class over the summer before my first quarter at ucla and it was an amazing course! I learned a lot about sociology of education and professor Andalon made the class engaging and clear with his slides which were very thorough. Highly recommend!
If you're interested in Latino/a/x immigration, this class is a must-take. Group projects are highly encouraged and recommended by professors, which makes the workload more manageable. As long as you engage with the course materials and lectures, you have a great chance to secure excellent grades. Attendance is tracked through engagement code, but participation in virtual lectures and in-person lectures is highly recommended. His class structures are well-organized and clear; he is an easy grader and helps you succeed in his classes. Go to office hour if you need help. I recommend taking every classes he instructs, whenever possible.
Professor Andalon is THE best professor at UCLA. He is an amazing professor who is very well organized and genuinely cares about his students’ success. His class was amazing, and super straightforward. Assignments are always clear and easy to follow, and Professor Andalon makes sure that students understand exactly what is needed to do well. He is extremely knowledgeable and always willing to answer questions, whether after class or in his weekly office hours. I would highly recommend him and his courses to anyone.
Great Professor. I have taken three courses with Professor Andalon, and he has been straightforward and helpful each time. This class, M129, was clearly structured and very organized. Attendance was required, although not expected to attend literally every lecture. I enjoyed looking at the various statistics about labor and employment in the US during this class. Do the work, and you will do well. Thanks again!
Professor Andalon is a wonderful professor. He makes sure all of his students succeed and work hard in his class. His class is very organized and clear, and he explains everything on the first day so everyone knows exactly what to do. He hosts office hours, and I definitely recommend going, he is very helpful and takes the time to answer all questions thoroughly. He genuinely cares about his students’ understanding of the material and creates a supportive learning environment. I would highly recommend taking his class to anyone who wants to learn and succeed.
honestly one of the best professors I have ever taken a class with. He makes all of his assignments clear and organized, and goes over all of the work necessary for one to succeed in his class. He hosts office hours twice a week where one can go over their work with him and he always loves to give his feedback and always helps his student. He never tries to trick students, he is always clear and always caring for his students. Would 100% recommend.
There was no weekly assignments, you just have to submit codes for each of the 2 lectures in the week. The exam was both open note and very easy, you were allowed to take them throughout one whole week. You do however have two pretty large assignments, one being an individual OR group project on an educational policy brief, but it was pretty fun to work (even doing it alone). The final essay is a self reflection on academic journey and it was quite easy as well. I recommend this professor but his lectures were a little slow and so I did not attend all of them. Overall enjoyed the course, and it has an acceptable amount of work for a 5 unit course. Professor is very understanding + lots of extra credit opportunities and extensions granted!
