easy class..some of the ideas in the lecture were pretty interesting. the professor gave out study guides for the midterm and final so with that handy, it'll be a cinch if you learn all the terms and do your readings.

This class was literally the worst class I have ever taken, EVER. The title and course catalog description are very misleading. This class is really the study of the study of religion, and NOT the study of religion. Thus, it was not very engaging. Discussions were fairly pointless and unstructured. The professor did not seem to give the TAs any agenda for them. As a result, we ended up discussing a bunch of very random, ideosyncratic issues that had nothing to do with lecture. Also, my TA gave us extra projects and assignments on top of that which was required by the professor. That was not appreciated.

Professor Talbott is all right. I think he is a good lecturer, but even though I know Hist 4 is supposed to be an introductory course, he just skims the surfaces of religions when he teaches. I wish he could present more in-depth lectures on the major religions. Otherwise, he knows what he's talking about and is very nice and unbiased, which is great.
