Great class I would truly recommend. This class laid the foundation for my interest in theories of economic and social development of the periphery and it's relationship to the core. Through this class I was able to understand Voss, Wallerstein and Blaunter much more clearly.

I LOVE Professor Brenner!! He is hands down a nice, hilarious guy that knows his materials and knows how to make the class enjoy his humor. Even though the class is pretty dry, but he repeats the important stuff all the time so it is really not that scary as other people have said. One midterm and final, both take-home, so you can always refer back to the books/notes to get them answer right!! I got a high A on the midterm, I went to his office hours and he added more point on my exam, which is awesome. He is very nice so please talk to him if you have any questions, he is gladly to help.

I guess this was the first time he taught Marxist theory in a long time. The class is set up really weird and I got an A without reading a single chapter of Capital. The first half of the class/ midterm was pretty easy, but he took his time with it, and when it came to Capitalism he rushed throgh it, which sucked cuz that sh*t was HARD. There's no way you can just go expect to listen and understand he makes no sense sometimes.

But I DEFINITELY recommend this class; he's a good lecturer, and his reader holds review sessions sometimes. And Dr. Brenner gives you basically a carbon copy of the exams before you take them. The only hard part is actually understanding the theory; no papers or assignments, just 2 exams and attendance.
