Dr. Rob is the best!! This class is very easy and very interesting. There is a group presentation at the end, but it wasn't stressful, and there are no exams or tests. He assigns weekly reflections, but they're very chill. This course counts for practicum, but I highly recommend taking it as a comm elective if you've already satisfied practicum! Dr. Rob is so sweet, he's such a good professor, and I wish he taught more undergrad courses
I genuinely don't know where to start with this class. This is by far the best class I have taken at UCLA yet. Dr. Rob is the nicest, most understanding, coolest, professor I've met. He will work around due dates and assignments with you if you have any family or personal issues and is always ready to help. I would HIGHLY recommend everyone take this class wether it fills a requirement or not.
TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN! I love Dr. Rob! He's one of my favorite professors at UCLA! He really takes the time to get to know everyone's name and ask them about how their day is going, along with remembering facts about them (ex. their hometown). He helped me prepare for interviews for my internships and clubs, and made me more confident in my public speaking abilities. He heavily cares about creative expression, so for his TED talk assignments, we are free to choose ANY topic of our choice (and I mean *any*). He is also a lenient grader because he understands that not everyone is confident in their public speaking abilities, but he genuinely cares a lot about his students and wants them to succeed. I promise you that you will not regret taking ANY class with Dr. Rob. I loved his Comm 1 class so much that I plan to take the other courses he will teach in the future for fun!
i really loved this class and how it was helpful to the real world. I learned the importance of public speaking and how the teacher was so helpful and informative with everything he did. I would def reccomend taking this class!!!
Dr. Rob is genuinely the best professor I've met at UCLA. He is so kind, and it's clear that he really cares about the well-being of his students. There is public speaking in this class, but the main "speeches" are very short and you can choose the topic! By the time you give your speech, you will probably feel comfortable with the other people in the class, and it won't be difficult. Definitely take any class you can with Dr. Rob!!
Dr. Carpenter was definitely the best professor that I have had in my time at UCLA. His lectures uplift students and empower your vision/voice. It was nice too to hear both sides of arguments that he gave during debate classes. He never made anyone feel bad. This not only was an easy class, but one that I looked forward to everyday. ROB IS THE GOAT
Dr. Rob is my favorite teacher that I've had at UCLA. He is so smart, kind, and genuinely cares a lot about his students. He is also a great connection to have at UCLA and will be there if you ever need anything even if you are no longer his student. I have reached out to him for advice and information about my intended major and he is always quick to respond. I highly recommend taking this class or any other class that Dr. Rob teaches!
I LOVE Dr. Carptenter! He is the best professor I have had at UCLA and I have taken another course after this one, taught by him, just because I enjoyed this class so much. There are no other grades besides the speeches you give in class and he prefaces that everyone will do well as long as they put in effort, as he is aware that people have trouble with public speaking. He is super engaging and you can tell he truly cares about his students and loves what he does. I will 100% take any other course he teaches!
Dr. Carpenter is the best teacher I've ever had. I took this course after loving his Comm 1 class. He has seriously impacted by education and public speaking/ self-confidence skills. He truly cares about his students and is extremely kind. I would take any class taught by him and I'm sad not to have him this quarter. This class is a great way to make friends within the Comm major also as group discussions occur every class. There is only one project the entire quarter besides daily participation which is 1 group speech, which is extremely easy. I got an A in the class and I would recommend taking it if you have a difficult schedule due to other classes.
