Dr. Rob is my favorite teacher that I've had at UCLA. He is so smart, kind, and genuinely cares a lot about his students. He is also a great connection to have at UCLA and will be there if you ever need anything even if you are no longer his student. I have reached out to him for advice and information about my intended major and he is always quick to respond. I highly recommend taking this class or any other class that Dr. Rob teaches!

I LOVE Dr. Carptenter! He is the best professor I have had at UCLA and I have taken another course after this one, taught by him, just because I enjoyed this class so much. There are no other grades besides the speeches you give in class and he prefaces that everyone will do well as long as they put in effort, as he is aware that people have trouble with public speaking. He is super engaging and you can tell he truly cares about his students and loves what he does. I will 100% take any other course he teaches!

Dr. Carpenter is the best teacher I've ever had. I took this course after loving his Comm 1 class. He has seriously impacted by education and public speaking/ self-confidence skills. He truly cares about his students and is extremely kind. I would take any class taught by him and I'm sad not to have him this quarter. This class is a great way to make friends within the Comm major also as group discussions occur every class. There is only one project the entire quarter besides daily participation which is 1 group speech, which is extremely easy. I got an A in the class and I would recommend taking it if you have a difficult schedule due to other classes.

Here I am giving my first-ever Bruin Walk Review. It would only be appropriate that I am giving it for the goat himself, Dr. Rob. Passionate, intelligent, understanding. He will go above and beyond every class. I became a more confident public speaker, and a better person. Take this class. It will be life changing.

This is the class if you want to take a class with a legend or a goat. This is simply the most helpful and most practical class on campus. Dr. Carpenter will teach you the fundamentals to win an audience or dominate an interview, all while having fun along the way. Dr. Carpenter carries the Comm department, which is dedicated to providing the best for his students. Each week, he ensures you are on track with your speeches and schedules cohorts along the way. Dr. Carpenter vs. Tom Brady: I'm taking Dr. Carpenter all day. There is no better class to take that benefits you in the real world than this lecture. Goat, Goat, Goat!. Look, Rob Carpenter; Dr. Carpenter is the man. He literally deserves an award because his work on campus for students is stunning. Every class he made sure we were doing well both physically and mentally. He’d adapt the lessons to be engaging while fun. However, every class you walked out learning something new. Want to learn how to walk an audience, well he has a day dedicated to that. As someone who lacked public speaking skills, I strongly feel I can speak in front of thousands now. I don’t know how but their needs to be a Rob Carpenter Goat Statue on campus. All in all just an amazing class to learn from and grow in. Beneficial to all majors.
