Took Electronic Dance music with him and just took his final. His final asked for very specific details. Overall, the final was hard. In comparison, tHe midterm was not that hard the class average was 80. The essay (venue assignment) is really easy, you just write description of the dance scene you attend. The groove assignment can be tedious I had to go to my T.A since I was confused of what to do. In the end it turned out ok, I got an A on that assignment. A fun part of this class is that you hear music for homework and you will be tested on selected songs. Because of this class, now I have new interests in music such as techno and disco :)

Currently Taking Music History 8, Talked to TA's and now considering dropping, although he taught this class 2 yrs ago and most of these reviews seem outdated, they all seem to be true thus far. Seems like this class is a major cocktease for ravers as the pervious students may agree. Honestly, if this prof does not say the words: PLUR, EDC, or Light shows within the next 3 lectures, I’m going to drop the class...lol, BUT SERIOUSLY after looking at his syllabus, it seems like he focuses too much on Jazz and topics that don't really have too much to do with EDM, i could see how they all relate but he should just brush up on the topics rather than spend hours talking about it and get into the fun stuff that everyone wants. My friend who took this class like 6 yrs ago disagreed on how many of the topics he will talk about relate to EDM. He mine as well title this class 20th century music or something like that, can’t think of anything witty. That being said, I wish he'd focus more on the newer forms of EDM as I feel its definitely evolved way more within the last decade. I know so many topics I want to write about but he doesn’t even get into the 21st century until the end. I feel like i am only interested in the last 3 lectures (just based on the topics he planned on the syllabus) but usually professors never get to the end stuff because they run out of time. TBH, it seems like most people are drawn into this class because they are amused by a UCLA prof talking about ecstasy, but personally, it kinda gets old. I was hoping I would be able to put my modern day raving knowledge to use. I could write about countless arguments about its evolution within the last month. I’ve never been excited for any class at UCLA but disappointed in the first day of class. The two kids in front of my practicing light shows(on the realz… you two need to stop, real talk, not impressing anyone) would probably agree with the disappointment. I consider myself musically inclined, did piano lessons/recitals/CertMerit for 8+ yrs and I know how to DJ. I am curious to see how difficult this stuff is going to be. We’ll see how it goes, I don’t even know why I just wrote this review, but I had to express my disappointment somehow. Point is, if you’re a raver, don’t expect much.

EDM: THe class is not that easy as you think. Midterms and final are very detail specific. However, the projects are incredibly easy so that will compensate for midterms and final. I liked this class, i thought it was a fun GE. I got a B+ but i seriously thought i did worse and i don't think its true how other reviewers say that fink only gives c's and d's. If I got a B+, then surely there were tons of people who got A's and B's
