LS2

Prof Cooper is an angry goblin. Seriously I could not get over it. I would go to class everyday and just wonder why he looked so angry and goblinish! It made him unapproachable :(
His accent is pretty pretentious. His lectures are okay, can be boring, and he does require that you know an extreme amount of info. But that's how all of the LS classes are. Would recommend taking a different teacher if you can.

Cooper was a really nice professor, but his multiple choice questions were ridiculous. you really need to know the material inside and out in order to do well in the class. Most of his question choices are

B.
C.
D. A and C
E. all of the above

so that will make you second guess yourself a lot. Another thing that he does is he loves drawing diagrams when it is a lot better to just look at the pictures from the book or online. He wastes a lot of time doing that when he could easily just make a slide with a diagram. And the diagrams he does have are towards the end of the lecture and can be EASILY overlooked- so make sure you focus on them because they make up a good % of the test. Good luck!

I also took him for LS2 with Simmons, and I think he was definitely the better of the two professors. I think he even showed instances of being annoyed to have to teach with Simmons, because Simmons would take so long with his lectures and ended up taking away time from Cooper's lectures. Anyway....
Cooper explains things well, after reading the post below mine I kind of wished I would have gotten to know him in office hours. He likes to draw diagrams a lot, which I thought was helpful but he did tend to repeatedly draw some figures (smooth tissue of an artery for example). Personally, I found the material in this class extremely interesting, and basically confirmed to me that I would like to be a Physiological Science major (meaning I guess that I will probably see Cooper in the future). I got an A, and easily. My TA basically gave me and the entire class full points for discussion section, but I hear others were no so kind. I found this class very easy, but apparently others find it very hard. I don't really see why, but I guess I'm just good at memorizing. Basically just try to your best ability to memorize every lecture slide and you will do fine. I highly recommend reading the book, as it helps understand the "big picture" of things and to know the concepts. I found it tough sometimes to understand the material solely with the slides. So don't be lazy, and study study study! Memorize those slides, and attend lectures especially if there are clicker questions. You never know when a bunch will be asked. Anyway, good professor. People apparently constantly praise Esdin and make it seem like you MUST take LS2 with him. I don't know how good he is, but Cooper wasn't bad himself.
