Prof Killip is a great lecturer and I learned a lot in this class. The homework is really difficult but you learn a lot doing it. The midterms and finals are honestly reasonable and easier than the homework in my opinion. I strongly recommend this professor.
Rowan Kilip is a great lecturer. I could never appreciate him as a fresh-out-of-HS student who was constantly helped out by his teachers. He lectures at a college level. He walks through derivation of complex results from first principles and explains his intuition well. He is kind and helpful during office hours. Exams are fair. It will take a bit of getting adjusted too and you stepping out of your comfort zone to do well in his class.
Lowkey fuck this professor. If math isn't an intuitive subject for you, skip this professor. The people who do well in his class are typically engineers or people who just "get" math. His homework was ridiculously hard and would take me 15+ hours a week even with going to an undergraduate tutoring center. I retook this class with a different professor and got a B+. The amount of stuff you have to know is insane, he moves extremely quickly. He is very condescending when you ask him a question. 0/10 for being very inaccessible to the average joe at math.
Great lecturer! He is lowkey very sassy and funny and explains concepts very thoroughly. If you go to office hours, he is super willing to help you learn and is an understanding professor. Keep in mind that homeworks are very challenging, and that each problem takes quite a while to figure out. Tests are also pretty challenging (averages are anywhere from a high D/low C), but the class is curved. The material on the test is based only off of homeworks and what he lectures on in class. I definitely recommend Killip. I took him for both Math 32A and Math 32B. Math 32A was generally easier than Math 32B.
Killip is extremely knowledgeable and very approachable--definitely go to his office hours! He's super nice and will always answer your questions, plus he provides good hints to homework problems. His lectures are also pretty useful (he explains the material pretty well) so I highly recommend going to class--especially because he likes to go in depth on material that sometimes the textbook just briefly touches on.
What helped me a lot was reading the textbook and watching the relevant Khan Academy videos on the section before he lectured on it--it made lectures a lot easier to follow. He's also pretty funny, which definitely makes class more fun.
Also, note that his homework is 1) insanely difficult and 2) quite time consuming, but it's really good preparation for his exams and honestly I'd say his exams are at least somewhat easier than the homework.
Overall, I give Killip 8.5/10 for being an excellent lecturer, very approachable, and funny. His homework is actually horrible though, it's pretty hard.
