The workload is reasonable. The difficulty level is fair. This course had four homework assignments, one midterm, and a final. The lectures were a bit boring, as the Professor only focused on teaching new things and writing notes very fast.
The class is very good and straightforward! The tests are not too bad, and he grades way too generous. The homework is fun (you should go to discussion sections to learn Matlab!). You don't have to watch lectures to do well in this class since everything is in his notes. Overall, a very chill class during the pandemic, the only thing that I would slightly complain is the slow grading for the finals.

It's a decent class and professor. But I wouldn't take it again. His lectures are quite boring, and I feel like he kept introducing new theorems and concepts, and did very few examples. I wish he did more examples with us since I'd like to see how to use the algorithms we learned... like I'm not even sure what Steffensen's Method is. We only had 3 graded homeworks this quarter, homework 4 was optional. Since we had 3 homework assignments, I feel like it didn't really cover everything we learned in lecture. Each homework is usually about 3-4 problems. Half coding and half theoretical. The theoretical exercises are straightforward, but the coding can be confusing if you're not skilled with coding. Luckily, you can use any programming language you want, and you can also use the TA's code. We had to upload our homework solutions to CCLE but I prefer uploading to Gradescope since it's easier to see feedback on Gradescope.
We also had to upload our exams to CCLE rather than Gradescope and I received my exam score but with no feedback, so I had no clue what I did wrong. There's only 1 midterm exam for this class. The midterm had 5 questions, but there were coding questions that took a long time. We had to make a lot of plots and I don't think it's possible to finish the midterm within 1 hour. It took me at least 6-8 hours. I think the professor took this into account so the final didn't have any mandatory coding questions. There were 5 questions on the final but I spent a lot less time on the final than the midterm. I actually spent only 3-4 hours on the final and I thought the length of the final was much more reasonable than the midterm. But overall, I think his exams are fair. I'm not sure what the exam statistics are since he never told us but I'm sure the average was very high. You should expect a proof on an exam, but it's not a rigorous proof. And the rest are computational questions. Since next quarter is in person, I don't think there will be any coding on the exams.
Professor did deviate from the suggested Math Department syllabus for this class. We didn't get to cover chapters 6 & 7 which are about systems of equations, and he covered some topics that the textbook doesn't talk about. Overall, I don't think I learned much from this class. It's not a hard class but I don't think I'd want to take a class with him again.
