Professor Kareem gives good lectures and is a likeable person, clearly loves what she teaches. I struggled to keep up with the readings (in lit for this time period, long readings are unavoidable) and recorded lectures, so I didn't get as much out of the class as I'd have liked. But I appreciated my laid-back and kind TA, Tony, and his feedback on my essays. Only complaint is I never actually saw my grade for the final gallery assignment and it doesn't show up in the gradebook. I think i was supposed to contact him if I wanted to see it. I didn't so. My Bad
This class is pretty chill, especially if you have Enrique as a TA. His sections were my favorite part of the course.
I found this class to be pretty boring but what I expected from it. Kareem’s lectures weren’t particularly engaging but they weren’t boring either and the workload was very light. My biggest complaint was how many things I had to print unnecessarily which in my opinion was a waste of my time, money, and paper. The readings weren’t particularly interesting but Kareem’s lectures were well organized and sometimes intriguing. She was strictly against computers for note taking in lecture which I find to be a bit excessive and at times counterproductive. She also had notebook checks and did one collecting notebooks right before the final which meant we didn’t have access to our notes for studying unless we took pictures of all of them which felt ridiculous to me. I think she is a good lecturer and communicator though and I would recommend her overall. I had Jesus Diaz as a TA and he was alright but I wouldn't recommend him, his sections felt like they were going by in slow motion.
This class wasn't bad. Not my favorite, but it's a survey class so I didn't expect anything too exciting. I liked Kareem as a lecturer and found her slides engaging. She is very personable and has a great sense of humor about the texts. I found a lot of them to be dull, but in class, she would share a perspective I hadn't considered before that made me appreciate the texts more. There was no final exam when I took it - just a close reading assignment, essay, and gallery project - which I found to be a relief because I'm not a great test taker. Overall, I enjoyed 10B and liked Kareem's course structure and lecturing style. I'd definitely take her again.
