Quarter: Winter 2019
Grade: N/A

The first half of this class goes by like a breeze, the second? Hits you like a motherfucking freight train. Every assignment for the second half I spent hours daily for a week on 20 problems. Its absolutely ridiculous. Also, the tests are brutal due to the fact that they are on paper when all the while you will have been doing hw on carnap.io which checks your answers for you. It trains you to be reliant and makes tests 20x harder. Take at your own risk.

For an intro class, this class is extremely difficult and hard once you hit the second half of the quarter. This class has made me miserable and I am sincerely counting the days for this class to be over.
At the beginning of the quarter, this class was seemingly "easy" and once we hit week 6 this class turned into a never ending train-wreck. The homework and lectures themselves make me want to cry and quit lol. For the sake of your GPA, don't take this class with this professor.
The professor seems like a nice guy but that's about it. Only around 2 examples help with the 20 homework problems he assigns WEEKLY. He knows people are struggling and asking him questions and doesn't help.
In order to be successful, you basically have to go to tutoring sessions aside from lecture and discussion, which is ridiculous. Isn't that the whole point of the lecture AND discussion? But no, discussion, even though it is not mandatory, you basically are forced to go because they teach you another lecture. WTF??
Take this class with Levy, never had him but I've heard great things about him. For your sanity, time, stress, grade, and GPA avoid this class with this professor.

This class has got to be in the top 3 worst classes I have taken in UCLA. Not only does this professor teach in an extremely boring, monotonous manner, but is very inconsiderate of the needs of his students. From weeks 6-10, this class was terrible and extremely stressful and overwhelming. FYI Walsh teaches a completely different format of logic so please do yourself a favor and take it with Levy. This class with this professor is not worth your time- in order to be successful (meaning if you want to pass or get a B), you MUST go to lecture, discussion (stupid, but it's an extra hour of lecture), go to the useless tutoring sessions, and collaborate with people.

Prof and TA extremely helpful if you ask either for help in office hours. Huge endorphin release when u get the problems right. Basically a bunch of puzzles to solve. Takes a little bit of effort but a good grade is feasible.

25% midterm, 50% weekly homework assignments (5% per week), 25% final. Content before the midterm was ridiculously easy. After the midterm, things got more difficult with logic proofs. Tests were extremely easy – if you managed to solve the homework assignments on your own. Although homework took up a bit of time, this class was still very easy and quite possibly the easiest class I've taken at UCLA.

Lectures not necessary to attend. Prof. Walsh answers emails very promptly, and is extremely easy to talk to.
