Most Helpful Review
I took the research course with her and though she may be monotonous she was definitely knowledgeable. She had a great concern for research and was willing to share a lot of her experiences and stories, and able to get into the technical stuff about research. When I took her for the research component she had us focus on oral histories which made for really interesting projects. It was also somewhat manageable in that we could interview whoever we wanted and when it came to writing the paper it kind of writes itself since she prefers you write in middle voice. The classes seemed unstructured and she often was unconventional in her teachings in that she didn't necessarily assign work but kind of arbitrarily assign things here and there. I think the idea was that she wanted the students to have creative freedom when coming up with research topics. She's definitely good at helping you fine tune or suggesting resources for your topic. Not a lot of structure, assignments seemed arbitrary, and she never really went over the exact structure of the research paper but it wasn't terribly difficult since you're writing about an interview. She's super wise and has a lot of useful research info and some funny/dramatic stories about her own research. I would definitely recommend
