I wasn't a huge fan of Gong's lecture style, but maybe it's just because analysis isn't my thing. She's a sweet person and really wants you to learn the material rather than worry about grades. The exams were pretty fair and workload wasn't too bad. Grade is equally divided among weekly homeworks, two midterms, and the final. She lets you get some extra credit points back on the midterms. Overall would recommend for 131A.
Would definitely recommend taking this professor for 131A. Her lectures are really clear and she’s always willing to further explain concepts. She really cares about students learning the concepts effectively and is super helpful.
Sherry is the arguably the best professor I have had at UCLA. All quarter she was incredibly helpful and only wanted all her students to learn the material the best that they could. She always asked for input and was incredibly helpful in her office hours. When the coronavirus changed how finals were done, she was incredibly fair and understanding. She is an incredibly good professor and good person. Absolutely take 131A with her.
Professor Gong is AMAZING. Her lectures are super organized and clear, plus she is absolutely a math genius. She has office hours twice every week and she is super helpful. The class covers mostly sequences, series, derivative and integration. It's a proof-based class, so if you are good at proofs, this class won't be that hard for you. It might be hard at first to understand the material, but as long as you put enough time into thinking, it is a fair class. The tests are fair and Professor Gong gives you the chance to correct some hard problems after the tests. She cares more about how much you've learned in this class, instead of the score you got in one midterm. She doesn't collect homework, but there is a quiz every week. Overall, I highly recommend Professor Gong!!!!
