Taking the Honors M180 course has probably been one of the best choices I have made when it comes to fulfilling my honors requirements. The material covered in this class is definitely challenging but it is very very interesting at the same time.
There are no exams in this class but the pop-quizzes do appear every now and then. As long as you understand the material in the class and show that you are interested you are bound to get an A. I do not say this in a negative manner implying this is is some BS class, NO, this class does require a great mastery of the topics but the professor understands the challenging nature of the course and adjusts the grading accordingly.
Lastly, what other class do you know of that lets you play with "toys" and build models every day??
Ok so I actually took the CHEM M117 version of this class, but bruinwalk wouldn't let me choose that. The only difference is that the honors students have to write an additional 10 page paper.
This is a great class if you're interested in fun information about abstract geometry. I have always loved this type of material and this class was perfect for me. It relates to chemistry a fair amount and I highly recommend taking this class at the same time as CHEM 172. My main complaint is that the lectures sometimes feel very long and are late in the day so it was somewhat exhausting at times. Still, I learned a lot of stuff in this class that I don't think I could ever be exposed to anywhere else and I highly recommend it to those interested.
