This was probably the most stressful class I took at UCLA. I got the lowest midterm scores I have ever received in his class due to the fact that there was not enough time to even think let alone answer all of the questions he crammed into the 50 min exam. Both midterm averages were a D+. And he didn't seem to make adjustments or accept student feedback after the first midterm went this way. Plus, nothing was done to remediate the timing of the exam or some poorly written questions.
There ended up being a ton of extra credit at the end (which I wasn't expecting) and I got the grade I needed in the end but it wasn't worth the stress. I felt like I tried so hard and I could never demonstrate what I had learned properly because the exam heavily favored fast test takers. Also, dealing with mcat failure at the same time as this class was a recipe for the worst mental state and burnout I have ever been through. I simply don't understand why he couldn't just give normal exams and let students receive the grade they deserve rather than destroying our self-esteem with the worst grades we have ever gotten and then pumping up our grade with extra credit in the end.
That rant aside, I actually really liked his instructional style and how he went "beyond the text" to contextualize what we were learning with real life examples. But overall I would NOT recommend this class but maybe he will change in the future
