Professor Bosch Santana is an excellent prof! Incredibly attentive to student learning, deeply passionate about the material, and always the leads the students into very engaging and unique discussions about the reading material. Workload ranged from relatively light to average in terms of reading, reading materials were always very well-selected and works you normally don't see taught in English-language classes. Overall, I would absolutely take a class with Bosch Santana again even for a subject I initially have low interest in.
I loved taking this class with Dr. Bosch Santana. I hadn't read a ton of African literature before, and it was a great introduction. It was online and half live/half asynchronous. We met once a week for discussion of the texts and she uploaded short lectures for us to watch on our own time. Each week was centered around a different theme. Most of the texts were provided, and the ones that weren't were reasonably priced. We were required to complete weekly discussion posts (~250-500 words) in response to prompts she gave us in the lectures, we had one midterm paper and one final paper/project. Since it's a pretty small class, participation is a significant part of your grade. She was very understanding of our circumstances and ready to help during office hours/after class. She responded personally to all of our discussion posts and mainly looked for effort and thoughtfulness.
