Prof. Boatright is such an asset to UCLA. The material he presented was extremely interesting and relevant. A lot of reading, but he posts all his slides online and everything from lecture is reviewed during discussion.

Fun, easy class! Just don't bother with the papaya reading- it has a random goat in it

Quarter: Spring 2018
Grade: A

If you put in the work, you can get an A in the class. Read the course reader: you will need to cite details in the reflection papers, midterm, and final. The main themes emphasized throughout the lectures are what you should focus on for the midterm/final.
Course Breakdown:
- 4 Reflection papers (2 pages)
- Midterm
- Participation (discussion is very boring but make sure you show up and participate once a week, even just by answering a question)
- Final
The midterm and final consisted of 10 half-page essays that asked for specific examples from the course to be applied to central themes. In general, pay attention in lecture, read the emphasized articles, and watch any films he includes.
