Great professor! The class wasn't too hard and the exams were really fair.

Professor Hardinger is honestly one of the best professors I have taken at UCLA. Yes, this class requires you to put in work and some time into practicing problems, but considering that he teaches ORGANIC CHEMISTRY, this class is very manageable in my opinion. Hardinger is very clear in what he wants us to know for his midterms and final, and even offers 2 extra credit opportunities (up to 20 points!) to boost our grades. If you ever visit him during office hours, he is very willing to help and is open to any questions you want to ask him. Remember to review the lecture supplement and solve all the previous exams posted on his website and you are good to go! I 10/10 recommend taking organic chemistry with Professor Hardinger. I learned a lot from this class and really hope other students appreciate him as much as I do.

easy and predictable, especially if you took 14C with Hardinger and you're used to his testing style.
unlike 14C though, the exams were much more predictable and repetitive since there's not that many different ways he can test you on mechanisms. highly recommend taking 14D with hardinger. great professor and he really cares about you!
only regret is not going to lecture and podcasting everything since he seems genuinely nice and is very organized.

Hardinger is the most organized professor I've had at UCLA. He has a course schedule, and he sticks with it. The pacing is good, the material develops naturally, and he explains it concisely yet precisely. He also throws in a few funny jokes (and several bad jokes). 10/10 would recommend.

I found this class to be the most difficult of the chem series to be honest(biochemistry is another story of course..). Unlike the rest of the 14 series, 14D requires A LOT of mechanism memorization and therefore make sure to really pay attention and take close notes in lectures/ podcasts and it is soo important for this class to do all the past exams not once but more, because he really does re-use questions so make sure you know them well and also understand the reasoning behind them. Love how his lectures are organized ! Good luck everyone !

Selling thinkbook 14th edition and lecture supplement 4th edition (both the newest editions). Practically new, I dropped the class two weeks in.

2. don't get too hung up on doing all the practice problems, just do some and move onto taking his released exams !!!

3. just go to class or watch the podcasts in a timely manner to give yourself enough time to study for his exams!!!!!********

4. enjoy how straightforward hardinger is; with his teaching style as well as his slides. not a lot of profs are like him.

Hardinger is very straight forward. Honestly, he gives you everything you need to know in order to succeed in his class. Although I thought I studied enough to get an A-, looking at it now, I realized the holes in my knowledge. This class was interesting and he even offered us so many extra credit opportunities so I have nothing bad to say about Hardinger. His test can be difficult while some are really easy so it's a hit or miss but overall, if you do the thinkbook problems, and all his practice tests, you'll be fine. And go to office hours with your TA if you don't get a problem TRUST ME. I went about 4-5 times during 14C and I got an A, but for 14D I got a little lazy and didn't go at all.
Overall, take 14D with Hardinger and he gives you everything you need to succeed. It's just whether or not you're disciplined enough to follow through. Best of luck bruins

Definitely harder than 14C! The tests and material were more difficult, but it's still a manageable class! If you had Hardinger for 14C, the class is structured exactly the same. Go to discussion, do all the thinkbook problems, and do as many practice exams as possible. Hardinger is an entertaining lecturer and an excellent professor, but the material for this class is pretty difficult so stay on top of the Thinkbook problems!
