I had Prof. Steinberg for Eng comp3 and 100w. I had him my very first quarter here at UCLA and I am graduating in a couple of days, and I must say that he's been more than a professor to me throughout my years at UCLA. If you are not shy and seek for his guidance, he will give it to you. and he will make you think in ways you never thought you could. He is an excellent mentor. excellent professor.

I like Professor Steinberg, he's passionate, intelligent, organized, helpful and very concerned with student success. Lots and lots of work in his class, but all in all, it helped me to become a better writer. I recommend students take 100W ASAP, esp w/ Steinberg. My writing has improved 3x and my overall grades have improved a whole letter grade because all this man has taught me.

Steinberg is so far the best Eng Comp professor I had. He's great during class discussions and really cares about his students. He really likes reading and encourages the whole class to read different books and articles he recommends, which are optional. However, we do have to read a book and write up summaries and opinion pieces about the articles he assigns. 4 Essays are required for the class. 1st essay is about shopping behaviors (3-5 pages). 2nd formal essay (4-5 pages). 3rd interview (no length requirement), which was fun and easy. 4th research paper (10 Pages). His grading system is also awesome, he points out your mistakes without correcting it himself so you have to correct it and learn your errors, which was great for teaching you how to write. He's highly recommended, very easy, and fun class to be in. By the way, I suck in writing and his class and this class was my first A in an English comp class at UCLA.

This was my final class of UCLA and one of the best. Prof Steinberg conducts a very intellectual debate on just about every topic surrounding popular culture and current events. If you are an introvert, please stay away from the class because you will damage the atmosphere. If, however, you like to contribute to class discussions, you have to take this class. I graduated with a 4.0 and have done the work for all my classes. Believe me when I tell that this class is a lot of work. It's mainly busy work, but it is still a large time commitment. The 4 essay prompts are so open ended that you can do anything with them. Steinberg is a fabulous professor. And, as you can see, the grading curve isn't too bad either.
