Quarter: Spring 2018
Grade: A

This class has an INSANE workload. I know the grade distribution is very appealing, but please understand that you will have more work from this online class than any other class you're taking. Interesting topics, but to be quite honest, it was way too much work. There are a lot of pros to this class; however, beware of the workload!

The workload is pretty insane, especially during the first few weeks when you don't know what is going on. The grading is very biased and incredibly skewed. Grading is all over the place. She makes up for this by giving tons of extra credit and designing the class in such a way that everyone who puts in effort gets an A.

Hands down one of the best Political Science classes I have taken. Everything is online, and you do not have to show up to the lectures, although they could be useful. Her honors class was amazing as well and she is not a strict grader. Every week there is an assignment that has a strict format and is strictly shown how to complete based off of surveys and games done the prier week. Overall a great class.

This class was great. The class is all online and I never went to lecture and got an A. The class consists of surveys played that rank up points depending on your answers. After taking the surveys, you get a weekly assignment that corresponds with the data from the surveys. Two of the weekly assignments are optional group work. She drops two of the lowest scores and gives extra credit for doing some of the assignments. She also bumps your grade for having high scores in the Gaming Platform. Overall the class is interesting and exciting and I would love to take it again.

I took this class as an online course in order to fulfill one of my GE's (sorry Pol Sci majors). The class itself is fairly simple. You have to write 10 reports (2-3 pages each) throughout the quarter (1 report/week), but the really convenient thing is that you can skip up to 2 reports without it affecting your grade at all! In addition to that blessing, you can ask for a extension for the reports for no reason whatsoever; just say you need an extension! Basically, the class consists of taking games/surveys from Monday-Wednesday and writing the report from Wednesday noon-Monday noon. You should do the games because they really don't take a whole bunch of time and they can give you a major grade boost (I was boosted from an A- to an A+). Reports are graded pretty harshly at first, but the grading curve is very generous. Whenever I had a question, I always emailed Professor Lohmann and she replied within 12 hours. It was certainly an online class that had an appropriate interaction with a professor. Do not be afraid to take this class, I highly recommend it!

Professor Lohmann is a great lady who will help if you need extensions on your assignments
the class is 10 weekly reports that each are weighted 10%, there is an optional paper at the end that will knock your two lowest grades out

overall, it is a lot of work but not too hard

Quarter: Winter 2016
Grade: A

Lohmann is very approachable and flexible. She gave PTEs, extensions, and the like to a bunch of folks. Definitely one of the nicer people I've come across in the department.

The class itself is interesting. Your entire grade is calculated on weekly, two-page reports that deal with data sets produced by the class the week before (by playing a variety of games online). Reports themselves aren't onerous, but they can get tiresome. If you find someone to work with, you'll save yourself a great deal of trouble.

No need to go to lectures or section - going to one or the other, though, isn't a bad idea. The TA or prof will provide an overview of the readings you're to use when writing the report, so class notes can make that process easier.

She's very upfront about the fact that getting an A isn't difficult at all. If you're willing to put in the work (which, like I said, is fairly dreary but not hard), you're good to go.
