Sydney is a great professor who is an expert in her area of interest. Her choice of books was excellent in that each text clearly exemplified and demonstrated how the Novel form shifted from Realism to Modernism to Post-modernism. After taking a course with Professor Miller, I now have a clear understanding of each Novel form, and I am thrilled that I now know how to distinguish the form and narrative mode of each text. Professor Miller not only has a solid understanding of her area of concentration, but she also is a great communicator in explaining the nuances of each text and in facilitating vital discussions among students. She values each student's input and gives all the students ample opportunities to participate in class. I really appreciate her complimenting each student's strengths; it is very encouraging. Professor Miller is always willing and glad to help students outside of class, and I always felt welcomed during office hours; my concerns were addressed genuinely and with careful consideration.

I have nothing bad to say about this professor. Apart from sort of harsh grading, all other aspects of her teaching are amazing. To be honest, I am proud of achieving an A-, in the course she makes individuals work pretty hard for their grades. She helps academically and in regards to your personal life. I believe she has left academia, but a great English professor nonetheless-- she actually helped me reach the conclusion of possibly pursuing the career path.
