Prof Sylvester is amazing. Having him for my first quarter at UCLA put me in such an optimistic mood. His tests aren't too hard if you understand the material (I think the class average on the first midterm was in the 80s). He offers review sessions before each of them too. He also baked us cookies for the last day of class. I'd be a math major if it meant I could have him as a prof again.
Very nice professor who really cared for his students. Tests were fair, not too easy, but not difficult. If you do your homework and go to discussions and do the worksheets, you'll be fine for the class.
I thought he was a great professor who genuinely cared about his students. He used Piazza for homework questions and always responded promptly. Extra credit opportunities were being active on Piazza answering or asking questions which helped a lot for doing and understanding homework. He also made cookies for us for our last lecture :)
Sylvester is a new professor and an awesome one at that. He can make a few algebraic mistakes but overall he communicates concepts really well (great English, which can't be said for much of the math department) and works through the material quickly and efficiently. He offered a whopping 4% potential extra credit, so the class average probably ended up being around a B+. Sylvester is just a really nice dude in general, and he hosts plenty of office hours too to discuss homework or ask questions.
