I had Co Thu Ba for Viet 1A. I LOVE HER. I walked into the class not knowing a lick of Vietnamese and after a quarter, my family is very impressed with my newly found conversational skills.

She's a very understanding professor. You have quizzes every other week and you get to do group projects. The final is made up of questions from the quizzes - and she will tell you this.

Excited for Viet 2A next quarter :)

Review for Thu Ba Hoai Nguyen. Another AWESOME professor. I took her for SEAAsian 50D and the next one(can't remember it). I learned quite bit of Vietnamese. Her project is very fun and very stress free. Her project is basically a video skit in Vietnamese and it was so MUCH FUN. Initially, she gave us a lot of work, but as the quarter went on, the workload moderate itself. She will teach you both the history and cultural aspect of Vietnamese. She is very concerned about her students and wished them well. This is the type of class where you wish there were more at UCLA because learning is FUN. I really enjoy her stories, movies, and the cultural lessons we learned. The book is very engaging and easy to read and understand. Don't worry if you don't understand Vietnamese, you will learn slowly and all my friends who had trouble ended up with a good grade=A- to A. I also took Quyen Di Chuc Bui, he taught the other part of Vietnamese class. I LOVE his class, but i also LOVE her class. Both classes are a gem at UCLA. When you walk out of her class at the end of the quarter, you will miss Thu Ba and the friends you made. I know i did.
