I think Prof. Addison is a very effective professor. Her lectures are very interesting. I love the demo she did during lectures. It is a bit scary that there are only two 2 exams and that they determine your grades but i really don't think her exams are that difficult. I think her review sheets really help for the exams. Its practically the same as the exams. If she gives you review sheets i suggest you know everything on it. I think addison is a very nice and caring prof. and she isnt hard.

Addison's lectures were interesting because psychology is interesting to me. We got to watch videos and she did a few experiments to help us understand concepts. It was just hard to have her at 8 in the morning. The worst thing about her class is her tests. Everything is fair game on the test. A question could ask something that was addresseed in one sentence of the book. There's just so much to know and you only have the mid-term and final to make your grade.

Hard teacher...not really. There are only two tests and that is your grade. Both are multiple choice. If that is a problem for you than this might not be the class for you. However, picture this: You don't have to go to class unless you want to see her videos (which are interesting but not necesary for success). She posts all her lectures online and gives you review sheets for the midterm and final. There are tons of questions but if you take the time to answer them all you will do great on her tests. Furthermore, if you do choose to go to class (which will never hurt you), print out the lecture notes before hand and take your notes on those because that way you get the important info and don't get caught up writing the outline material.

I can't believe that people think this class is hard. Granted her multiple choice midterm is worth 45% of your grade, and the multiple choice final 55%, it still does not justify ratings that say she is so difficult. There's a lot of pressure during the test because it is worth so much, but it is also a relief not to have a whole lot of busy-work. There are no papers or anything (at least not this winter quarter)! How awesome is that?! I thought lectures were cool 'cause of the demonstrations and the readings were not too bad. I just crammed like crazy the day before the midterm and got a big fat A on it. I think Prof. Addison is really nice, and I enjoyed the class. The key words to success in this class: REVIEW SHEETS! Do the readings. Answer the questions ahead of time. Know them well and you'll be fine.

a great person indeed and she does make a strong effort on her lectures, maybe too strong because she goes way too in-depth for an Introduction to Psychology class, her readings are half and half, sometimes boring sometimes interesting, same goes to her lectures, but what do i know? i only went to lecture like 4 times the whole quarter. Try to make it to class because her midterms and finals are based on her lectures. In fact her tests are all multiple choice (good sign) and it shouldn't take more than an hour on her final, thats if you studied her review sheet throughly. But in the end, she was a great person. She answered my emails within 5 minutes even though it was about 1 or 2 in the morning! and it is an 8'o clock class! impressive hehehe do your best!

Prof. Addison is not bad at all! She is very nice and knows the stuff well...just that her lectues are boring. This is what I did...read the book(probably one of the most interesting science textbooks), know the stuff asked on the review sheets, and skipped 6 lectures...still got an A+. And I don't have a photographic memory. Really, in my opinion, the rating does not do the just of the reality. This class is the easiest among all my classes.

Ok, after all the bad reviews Addison got on this site, I was seriously AFRAID to take the class. But I figured I'd give it a try... and I'm happy I did. Addison isn't the perfect teacher, but she's not as bad as some people have made her out to be. I only have a few beefs with her... sometimes she dressed a little inappropriately. One time her midriff was showing like the whole class and sometimes she walks around the room and it's almost like she thinks she's an aerobic instructor or something! So I was rolling my eyes a lot about that... but as for the actual CLASS.. she definitely knows her stuff and presents it in an interesting way. It was an early class, so I appreciated when she'd give us a 10 minute break halfway through. Before the midterm, I missed class maybe once ... but when I did well on the midterm, I slacked off (I probably missed about 4 classes after that!) but I still ended up getting an A+. Basically here's what you have to do... you don't have to do the readings, but it can't hurt you. You don't have to go to class... but again, it's better to go. What you MUST do are those dang review sheets she gives you and print out the lecture notes she puts up on the web. Those two things practically ARE the exam and if you want to do well, you'll put in the time to do the review sheet and understand it. (She's very good about having enough office hours to help you out if you have ANY questions). So it's like... if you put in two doses of effort to do the review sheets for the midterm and final, you can't lose! The material is interesting and it's a fun class to take. Addison is very nice so if you get stuck with a concept, don't be shy & go talk to her---she'll go out of her way to make sure you get it. Bottom line...you get out what you put in... if you put in a true amount of effort two times in the quarter (pretty reasonable) you will do great.

first off, i'd like to say that the fact that some people not being disciplined enough students to be able to stay awake in class has nothing to do with whether or not the professor is good. if you choose to take an 8:00am class, you must deal with the consequences. professor addison knows her stuff and presents it effectively in her lectures using powerpoint slides and multimedia. some days i didn't want to get up (especially with a roommate who started class at noon everday), but once i got to class, it was worth it. i guess class can seem long, but i had 90 minute classes in high school, so an extra 15 didn't make that much of a difference. if you have an genuine interest in the subject, do your reading (before lectures is best), and go to lecture, you will do well.

I don't know why everyone gives Professor Addison such a bad rating. She's a really nice person; very caring and very interested in Psych. Yes, getting up for an 8 o'clock class was ridiculous but well we also signed up for it, so it's not her fault. Her lecture's are pretty interesting and she's good about using videos to help you along. Also, she almost always gives you a break so it doesn't usually seem like 2 hours. The material is really fun and I would reccomend you take her class. (But remember to go to lectures)

Professor Addison was definately a nice person, but again, she does need to learn a few more teaching skills. Her voice was very soft and she spoke in the lectures as if she was a quiet conversation with someone. The midterm and final was ok...as long as you study the review sheets she hands out, you'll be fine. TRY TO PAY ATTENTION IN LECTURE! Her final seemed to mostly be based on her lectures...and for someone who couldn't stay awake, I wasn't sure about many of the questions.
