I loved this class, and the video clips and interesting experiments discussed kept me interested for the whole 2 hours of lecture. This was one of my easiest classes and definitely my favorite class so far... but also almost the only one that I did the reading for regularly. You can't skip the readings, because many of her quiz questions are from the textbook, but the textbook itself is a great read, I think. By easiest I mean that there was not so much studying and memorizing involved, and no homework other than the participation in experiments for 6 credits (maximum an hour each). The tests and quizzes are all multiple choice, and if you understand the experiments and concepts, you'll do fine. This quarter, 81.00% was the bottom grade cutoff for an A-.

I think that Proff. Malamuth is a great teacher. She has a lot of enthusiasm for the material and a lot of great video clips and antecdotes. The quizzes are not anything to freak out about, but they are pretty tricky sometimes. The material is really interesting and the class is great.

Prof. Malamuth obviously enjoys what she teaches and is very enthusiastic about the material, which helps if you don't really find it interesting. Her quizzes and exams are a bit tricky but the curve in this class makes up for it.

Overall I did NOT like the class and would not recommend it. There is ALOT of information covered and ALOT of memorizing. The review sheets for the midterm and finals are basically the whole course in the form of an outline...absolutly not helpful. It would save the T.A's time just to tell you to learn everything. The questions for the test and weekly quizes are confusing.

Malamuth is a good lecturer, and keeps you interested for what's a pretty long class (TR 2-3:50). There is a TON of stuff covered, and lots of reading to do. She lectures well, but when I had her she did weekly (and sometimes bi-weekly quizzes) that were quite stressful. They were all 5 questions, and 12 total (2 lowest dropped). Most of them were pretty tricky, so getting 4s was common.

Her tests had some tricky questions too- many obscure things from lectures (like what little thing happened in this experiment?). Otherwise, very eye-opening and a great starting class.

She gave quizzes almost every lecture and while at first this was frustrating, I found that when it came time to study for the final, it was much easier. Just be sure to MEMORIZE everything she gives on her final review sheet (but it may take some time!). Very personable lady with great connections in the psych department...i would truly recommend her class.

Prof. Malamuth is an awesome instructor and a great person. She is concerned that you understand the material and is sincerely willing to help explain and elaborate on interesting ideas. This class was extremely easy if you do the readings and pay attention at lecture. Her quizzes are good for giving you instand feedback on how you're doing in the class. The TA Danielle was also really helpful and has some great review sessions before midterms and finals. This class was probably easy because if was an introduction, but I'm sure Prof. Malamuth teaches her other courses with the same caliber. Take this class, you'll learn some interesting stuff and with moderate studying you should do good in the class. I got an A. She's also a very attractive professor so you don't have to worry about falling asleep in class!

Don't listen to all the great comments.

Psych 10-- Interesting course.
Malamuth--OKAY professor.
Easy Grade-no.

The text is definitely manageable and easy to read, interesting too. However, she is really tricky when it comes to her exams. One word can change the entire question! Both exams were 60 multiple choice questions but thats it! We study everything for some multiple choice questions? If you are good with this, sure, take the class. If not, don't. Find a different professor. She grades on a strict curve. 20% A. 30%B. 40%C and the rest. A LOT OF PEOPLE DO WELL! that is the trick. I went to all the lectures and aced all the quizzes but still got a C+. Everyone on my floor got C's with the exception of 1 person. If you are that one person go for it. If not, find a different professor because psych 10 is definitely worth taking just not with Malamuth.

I thought i would have done better with all the information i had to absorb. It's definitely LOTS of material!
