Professor Malamuth was wonderful. I really enjoyed her class. The material was fascinating and I looked forward to going to class every lecture. I didn't miss a single lecture in her class just because the material was so interesting.

Malamuth was extremely easy to understand. Her lectures were informative, useful, and clear. She posts lecture notes before class, which makes the lecture easy to follow and taking notes much easier. She was also very friendly and approachable.

I thought this class was really easy. It is curved, but I did well on both the midterm and final. As long as you go to lecture and understand the material, it is easy to do well on the tests and quizzes, which are very straightforward.

Grading:
45% - Midterm, 60 multiple choice questions
10% - 10 Quizzes - easy and based mostly on previous lecture and only sometimes infor from readings
45% - Final, 60 multiple choice, and it's not cumulative!

WONDERFUL PROFESSOR - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Professor Malamuth was a wonderful teacher. Taking Psych 10 changed my life because I learned so many valuable things. I am a Comm major and it was my favorite pre-req. Her lectures are easy to follow and the slides are available online. She has a very caring demeanor about her and shows that she wants her students to succeed. I got an A, which wasn't too difficult to achieve... just a couple hours of reviewing flashcards and lecture slides. The readings aren't too bad and although she says read them before class, it's better to do it after because you can skim over what she went over in class. I hope I can take another class taught by Malamuth in the future

I thought Professor Malamuth (previously Addison) was one of the best teachers I've ever had at UCLA. Her lectures were engaging and the videos she showed tied in very well with her talk. She is very concerned with everyone understanding the material and is always encouraging students to come to her OH. I never went myself because her OH conflicted w/another class I had but my friend said that she was really helpful and nice. The class itself is comprised of 6 credits of psych experiment testing (really easy and fast to obtain), 11 quizzes (10 count toward your grade, the lowest score is dropped) worth 10% of your total grade and a midterm and final worth 45% each. The final isn't cumulative. All tests are multiple choice and weren't that bad. There were maybe 1-2 tricky questions on the midterm and final but the rest were pretty straightforward. All her test questions were fair. Most (~80%-90%) of questions come from lecture and the rest from the book. There is quite a bit of reading from the textbook but it's not too bad if you read according to the assigned dates. Also, she posts review sheets and as long as you know and understand everything from the sheets, you'll be fine. Grading is predetermined by the Psych department, so you can't blame her if you end up with a bad grade: top 20% get A's, 30% Bs, 40% Cs and bottom 10% Ds and Fs. I got an A in the class--as long as you pay attention in lecture and understand the material, there isn't much studying involved. Another good thing about Professor Malamuth is that she posts her lecture notes online so you won't have to spend all of lecture furiously jotting notes. Plus, you won't have to buy an expensive reader. Overall, highly recommended professor! Psych 10 was one of my favorite classes.
