Great class and very worth taking! The curriculum leans heavily toward public history, but I used it as an opportunity to secure a research internship to build skills and make connections, and I definitely got a lot out of it. Both Professor Paul and my site supervisor were fantastic. I only spoke with Dr. Walker (who was in charge of my site) maybe twice; he was nice, if a little grumpy/sassy.

I interned with The Living New Deal, which I highly recommend if you're into research and policy work. A heads-up on the structure: you’ll need to meet with the class TA a few times throughout the quarter (she was very helpful!) and stay on top of weekly assignments plus a final research paper. It’s certainly a bit of a time commitment, but my schedule was light enough that it wasn't an issue. Also, my internship site was certainly more demanding than some of my other classmates, so theres that. Overall, everyone is super invested in ensuring you get as much out of the internship as you put in!
