I got a C+ at the end of the quarter. However he didn't factor in the homework grades and extra credit (due to logistical issues). This lifted me to a 93.00%, which was an A. This is because Homework was very important in his class and he also gave a good amount of extra credit. I don't think I did too well on the midterm and final but he was lenient. I don't know how to finish this review...

As his first time teaching the course this professor in my opinion did really well. Yes he had issues, but for the most part the worksheets and lectures covered the material. While it might seem that he made the topics hard, these topics are not easy. It is less that he made the course are and more that 20A itself is difficult. If you attend office hours and read the book before lecture, then you’ll understand the concepts. I wish I did those things, but instead I had to struggle due to my own mistakes, barely passing with an A. Overall he helps a lot, even giving lots of extra credit, so use all the resources he gives to you, and you’ll do well. Perhaps my favorite thing about the course was that he gave demos and real life phenomena examples right in class. What a tough professor but such a cool guy! Thanks for reading.

This class is such a struggle. The tests are quite hard and he also is not a good lecturer, though if you go to his office hour he is quite helpful and is better at explaining stuff. Just honestly avoid this professor.

From the very beginning, the class's difficulty, Atallah, and the workload were overwhelming. Taking this class with him was the worst 10 weeks of my life because I always felt that I didn't understand the material, and no matter what I did, I wasn't improving. He is a good guy, however, genuinely trying to help his students. I just found that his teaching style and information presentation were too unorganized and confusing, which made the difficult material even more challenging. I would not recommend taking Chem 20A with him.

This professor doesn't deserve all of the negativity. I struggled in this class, but I really appreciated the effort he put into office hours. Going to office hours will really help you, so I highly suggest it. The worksheets really forced you to understand the concepts that he puts on the exams. Additionally, the homework and extra credit are really easy. Overall, CHEM 20A is a difficult class, but this professor makes sure you understand the concepts enough to succeed in the series.
