Definitely easier than 7A. A lot of the material isn't the most engaging if you're pre-med, as it delves a lot into ecology, but it isn't too difficult. Kane is a good professor and you can tell she really cares about the subject.

The 7 series is the 7 series; it's not gonna vary too much by professor. However, I highly recommend Kane. She's super sweet and would chat with me before and after class. She really cares about her students and her lectures are AMAZING, she's so clear. Take it with her!

LS 7B was a horrible class! So disorganized! The professor nor did the TA give a shit! Kane is one of the most lazy professors I have met.

Honestly, I hate the LS series. I genuinely believe that if I were to skip every lecture (which I can't because of stupid clicker questions), I would get the same on my tests. I think it's stupid how we literally have to learn everything ourselves through Launchpad. I don't particularly like the structure of flipped classroom. I personally think that discussion section should be the time for problem solving. I don't think that Kane gave anything more to the lecture and that was really disappointing. The "labs" were TRULY THE WORST THING EVER. We spend almost 2 hours (they made us stay the whole time) on doing worksheets that were not helpful and that were too long for the amount of time we were given. I found myself always scrambling down some BS just so I could finish the worksheet and turn it in on time.

As for the course itself, LS is pretty predictable. Clicker points, Launchpad, surveys - there are a lot of ways to get free points. The midterms aren't awful, just be wary of time. Overall, I hated Biology/Ecology before and Kane made me hate it even more.

I don't really like the LIFESCI curriculum because of launchpad. But Kane is a good professor and the lectures are solid. Midterms are not too bad, just a time constraint on the first midterm. There are so many free points in this class that even if you do poorly on the midterms and final you should still get a decent grade. GL

Professor Kane is a really solid professor, but I think I had extremely high expectations of her given all the amazing things that are said about her, so I didn't really feel the magic. She definitely knows the material and knows how to properly lecture. She got a little scary when she told me to get off my phone during class, but I would take 7B with her again. I never really left the class unclear about a topic, and if I did all the TAs were great at clarification.

I thought she was very helpful and also very approachable as a professor! She taught concepts really well and I actually enjoyed the pace of her clicker questions because I got to answer the question on my own, ask people around me, then relax a little before getting back into the material.

I am genuinely shocked that someone enjoyed Kane's class. She acts like a high school teacher still trying to get some type of power over the students; she once literally told the class that we couldn't leave until she dismissed us. She's alright at getting the concepts across, though they're so straightforward that not a lot of teaching is required, but her attitude was horrific. She gave us this lecture before course evals were due about how unfairly women professors were treated in reviews, which on its own I absolutely agree with—they're respected less and not seen as an authority which is horrible. However, she was the absolute worst person to deliver that speech given that her behavior was intolerable regardless of gender. Yeah, you'll get an A in the class, but you would have to pay me to get me to sit through 10 more weeks of Kane. Every professor has the same exams which you can get through just using logic and reasoning, so avoid her if you can.

Kane was a good professor! As far as LS 7 lecturers go, I thought she taught well and tried to keep the class engaged. She could have maybe spent a little less time between clicker questions, but otherwise, she was solid. In terms of the actual class itself, I found it to be a little harder and more frustrating than LS7A. While the material for a lot of people is a bit easier to understand, I thought the exams themselves were a bit harder (Although that might have been because I had very little interest in the material). Also, there were times where I felt the class was wasting my time. The "labs" for this class are two hours long, but I felt like a lot of the activities we did either could be finished in much less time or could be better formatted to finish earlier. Additionally, there is a project where you basically have to research a plant in the Botanical Gardens, and honestly, that was a fat waste of time, as none of the material required for that project was relevant to the class. Long story short, I thought the class sucked, but Kane was good.
