Physics sucks and this guy doesn't make it any easier. He's deceptively hard, and his finals for both 6B and 6C were really difficult. Don't count on doing well on the final. But I don't blame him entirely since I'm so horrible in physics.
PEROOMIAN IS MY FAVORITE PROFESSOR AT UCLA and almost makes me want to become a physics major.
He cares SOOOO much about his students. After the first (or second?) midterm, he stopped the lecture and said, "I am so disappointed in you guys." And gave a quick spiel on going to office hours.
You guys, really go to office hours. He doesn't mind answering the same question ten times and he's really really nice and I love him.
Sometimes his clothing gets really really distracting because he wears tight vintage punk band v-necks and spikes his hair, but hey, he's a good professor and I won't judge him because that's how he is comfortable.
In lectures, all he does are examples, which is PERFECT because physics lecturers usually just derive equations and don't apply the math. This guy though. He's just awesome. Please take him.
He's kinda fast but just write down what he writes down and review it later.
BE AWARE this class is no walk in the park. I got an A- because I tried really really hard and read the textbook and did as many problems as I could. He gives out Serway problems, and some test questions are pretty similar to those, so please do them. However, do his practice tests that he hands out/test bank because our second midterm was pretty much the exact same as one in the test bank.
The circuit/resistor/capacitor problems are pretty difficult imo but nothing like a little practice couldn't solve.
His tests are extremely fair.
You get what you put into it.
HE ALSO DOESN'T ASSIGN MASTERING PHYSICS because he was once a UCLA student here and he knows how pointless it is. He assigns textbook problems and if you just write down your name on a piece of paper with some vague physics problems on there, you'll get 100% because it's all based on effort.
Overall 10/10. Tests are no walk in the park but you gotta try hard if you want to feel any sort of satisfaction anyways.
He is one professor who is truly passionate about teaching.
This guy is great. He does everything he can to make you succeed. And he really wants (and trys) to let everyone get A's. My only difficulty in this course were his midterms, not because the were especially difficult but because you need to work really fast to finish them in the 50 minute period. But they were definitely very doable and I easily got an A in the course.
He is a wonderful person and an awesome professor. He is a wonderful lecturer - you do not notice how the 50 minutes pass by (like the speed of light). His lectures are VERY explicit and EXTREMELY helpful. He gives many example problems from other textbooks (which are related to the chapter/section). This examples are very helpful for doing the homeworks. Lectures and homework assignments are related to the exams. As a mater of fact, the material for the 2 midterms came from lecture notes, midterm review sessions, and homework problems. Many problems on the final were also from previous examples. If you do all the assigned homework (try to do it by yourself without looking at the solution manual, and try to understand the problems), read his notes, and go to office hours, there is no reason why you should not receive an A. DEFINITELY go to office hours. He is EXTREMELY helpful. As he says "if you do not pass this class, it's you fault. Because you didn't go to office hours." He is a FANTASTIC professor!!!
Vahe is absolutely one of the best Physics professors out there. He is very concerned with having each and every students understand the material clearly and constantly advises students to attend his office hours. Physics 6c is definitely the easiest of the 6 series, but it still is Physics. Lectures are pretty basic, basically based off of slides and example problems which is really good since its extra study material aside from homework. However, he may tend to hurry though some slides that it may make note taking difficult His midterms aren't so bad, because they're pretty much straight forward and he'll never add any tricky problems. The final wasn't that bad either, it basically a combination of 2 midterms. Definitely take him if you want to learn and earn a good grade.
