Although I think Professor Thulsiraj is a nice person, sometimes it seems that she is unsure of what she is lecturing about. This in turn makes the presentations a little confusing.

Also, although the tests are manageable, I feel like a lot of the information was not presented in an engaging way. For example, watching a 2 hour lecture on the different cycles where she just lists off the different processes doesn't encourage learning at all. Later, she'll ask questions in different lectures about the cycles like we're supposed to remember the specific cycle she probably lectured on for 30 seconds and is one out of like 20 processes.

I appreciate that she did make this class open note, but I just felt that I was memorizing material at times without knowledge of its applications or why we should care.

Professor Thulsiraj is a really nice professor however the course was a bit disorganized. Homeworks were easy and manageable, the course also had a project component which was not too bad (actually was really interesting). Exams reflected homework. Only thing is the class contains A LOT of material so it can be a lot to cram in. Would recommend!

This class is great, and Vanessa is an amazing professor! CEE M166 is like a continuation of a life science microbio class, but more in-depth with a focus on biogeochemical cycles and contaminants. It may sound difficult, but Vanessa is a great lecturer who makes the material very digestible and the exams were pretty easy. I definitely recommend this class!

Dr. Thulsiraj is one of the best professors I have ever had! She is super nice and helpful and will make sure you understand the material. She will go out of her way to meet with you if you have questions about the content or just want to learn more about engineering! She is wonderful! Tests and HW were not easy but they were definitely fair and doable.
