I gave up going to lectures Week 2, and I am glad I saved three hours a week. There is no reason to attend class unless you want the book to be read out to you but made more confusing. The problem sets are somewhat manageable, but way longer than other classes I have taken. The first midterm and the final was abnormally difficult. I was told the final was intentionally made more difficult because the second midterm had a high average. The final was an absolute shitshow where I spent equal time solving the questions (or rather scratching and redoing the work) and staring into my friends' faces with an equally reciprocated sense of dread, disbelief and WTFness. If you don't care about your GPA or actually learning, then take this class, otherwise run.
Trust me and avoid this class. It's for your own good. Yeong manages to make the textbook's concepts seem more complicated than they already are and just doesn't want the class to get a good average. She literally made sure to make the final harder because she found the class average for midterm 2 to be too high (it was in the 80s) and whenever asked a clarification question during a lecture she wouldn't know how to answer and would make presume to make us more confused. The homework assignments are literally graded so harshly for no reason and the midterms are unnecessarily hard. I would never recommend this class to anyone.
Confusing lectures, hard tests. 0/10. She literally said "The average was too high (literally an 84) so I'll be making the final harder so the class average is lower"?? The final was HARD btw. Super unclear lectures, really boring. Take it with someone else if you can.
If I wanted to have the textbook and its examples read out to me, I would have used the audiobook function on the textbook. Class sucks, this professor is worse. If you think you can learn the content without lectures, go ahead, tests are not tricky. Id avoid though.
