Professor
William Conley
Most Helpful Review
Spring 2025 - Absolutely a 5/5 for Prof. Conley. He's a great lecturer in class, explains everything clearly, and is extremely helpful in office hours (for homework, material review, etc.). He had 3-4 hours of office hours per week and hosted 3+ hour review sessions before the midterms/final!!! He truly cares about our learning and I'm so grateful to have taken 115AH with him. As for the class, it is what the other person said---a long 10 week grind. We have 13-15 homework problems per week, which takes a LOT of time to type up the solutions to. The grader is also a bit picky for the homework :\. Go to proof writing workshops and get your homework checked over :) The tests weren't insanely bad, but knowing how to write proofs is kind of crucial. Don't skip steps! Also don't assume vector spaces are finite dimensional :(. Our medians for both midterms were ~78%? The final's distribution wasn't released. As expected for a math class, it is pretty heavily dependent on your test scores (75% midterm(s) + final, and you can drop your lowest midterm). I'm not sure if he curved our final grades, but if he did it was definitely not over 2%. If you're looking to take 115AH, def take it with Prof Conley! Work hard and enjoy the challenge!
