I really like this class and the professor! He is very knowledgeable and patient. Students can email him and have lunch with him after class! Take his class!
I have the textbook "Modernity and Self-Identity" if anyone want to buy it!just send me a mail! *************

I suppose Brubaker isn't the worst professor when it comes to lectures; every once in a while - he might even discuss something bordering on interesting - but even so, I would highly recommend everyone to skip this class. The grading for the tests is done on a whim and if you ask why you got a certain number of points on the test, they will have no idea. Perhaps your TA will say, hmm, I guess you could have gotten full credit on there, but whatever, it's only the difference of a letter grade, no big deal there!
Also, DO NOT GO TO OFFICE HOURS. Perhaps Brubaker knows a lot about sociology, but he doesn't know a thing about social niceties. He's rude, condescending, and acts like he's so damn smart and that any time you open your mouth, you're wasting his time so shut up and run out of his office as fast as you can. Or better yet, don't take the class.
