Ridiculously easy class. I missed three points in the entire class and regularly turned in half assed essays and assignments. Professor Worger is nice and his lectures are actually pretty engaging. Really challenges your thinking on Africa. Required books were pretty boring and uninteresting except for Trevor Noah's biography which was really funny and presented a very good view of Apartheid in South Africa.

If you're looking for an easy history GE I definitely recommend HIST 10B with Worger.

This class is literally a jokeeeee ( in a good way). The professor really cares about his students and is very lenient. Quizzes have unlimited trials, but I definitely learned a lot from this class as well. All stereotypical assumptions made about Africa are debunked in this class. Interesting and easy class. VERY light homework assignments and discussions are also online, so you can have it where ever you'd like. I highly highly recommend this class, and I normally don't write a review for professors, but this class with this professor has got to be the best one ever!

Take this class!
This is one of the most mind-blowing classes I have ever taken at UCLA. I just finished watching the videos of Week 10 and though I don't have a final grade, I would still recommend this class to all of you.
The weekly readings are not boring at all. This class is just so enjoyable and gives you insight into the world and Africa. PLEASE PLEASE TAKE THIS CLASS.

If you're looking for an EASY GE look no further! This is it! Although going to class is mandatory and really borrrrrring.... It's easy and you learn about how our everyday thoughts on Africa are totally stereotypical. For example, Worger made a pretty good point about how we are so use to just saying Africa instead of referring to the different and diverse countries. DISCLAIMER: There is quite a bit of reading ( like 50 pages a week) which you have to read to ace the weekly quizzes at the end of each class. I have an overall study guide which I'm selling for $10, which covers everything useful from week 1 to 10. I read each week's guide right before each quiz and aced each one. It's also incredibly helpful for the final, to help remember information from weeks ago in the quarter. The notes will save you hours each week and tons of headaches during finals week, looking for the notes of weeks prior. In summation, take the class, it's easy and you learn a lot. What more could you ask for?

I loved Dr. Worger. HIs lectures were online, so you were able to watch them at your own pace. Then, you met once a week, and he went over what you read and watched in a pretty interactive manner. There are weekly reading quizzes, but they are pretty fair, midterm and final were also fair game. Definitely recommend this class.

This was by far one of my favorite classes I took spring quarter. Since this was a history class I was expecting to just learn a bunch of random facts/events/ and dates about Africa, but it was so much more than that. The professor and TA's focused on common themes and kind of took a "sociological" approach to the history of Africa which was really cool. On top of that, the class is fairly easy, curved extremely well (A- is an 85% or better), and offers extra credit. So if you need to take a class to fulfill a GE requirement or even just as a class to boost your GPA, this is the one.

Dr. Worger is a great ass Professor! He is invested in the students and wants you to do well in the course. If you get a 60% in the class you will pass with a C and an 85% is an A-. there is no reason why you should get anything other than an A or at least a B. There were 2 extra credit opportunities. I took this class pass no pass like an idiot because i was lazy. There were 2 essays and i didnt do either essay and still passed the course. If i were to half ass both essays i wouldve gotten an A in the course. Beware every week there is a quiz and you need to study to do well on it. Midterm and final is the easiest thing you have 6 essays to choose from and you write about 2 the midterm he released all the questions. This class is also hybrid so that means that his lectures would be online so its your job to watch the lectures beforehand and utilize them for quizzes and essays. i recommend this class but you need to study for the quizzes if you got that down you will get an A guarenteed
