Quarter: Fall 2023
Grade: A+

Prof Sharvit was her first time teaching this class for this quarter because she specializes in semantics. How the lecture goes is she has slides to lecture on and she posts them afterwards. There was a time in the middle of the quarter where one of the students asked if she could post the slides beforehand; the solution was that she posted a pre-info slides without the answers in them.
As for the exams, there are 2 take homes: midterm and a final. BEWARE, the final exam can be difficult (5 questions). The midterm on the other hand was okay imo. You get to have 2 full days to finish them, typically from monday to wednesday, so start the exam as early as possible and ask clarifying questions if needed during office hours. Here are the breakdown for the assignments:
6 Quizzes (u can miss 2 quizzes): 12%
6 Homeworks: 30%
1 Midterm: 24%
1 Final: 34%
Anyways, Sharvit can be difficult but the topics overall is very fun and enjoyable; she's also kind and nice :D

Super easy class. You get 100% on quizzes for taking them...and she drops 2 so you can skip 2 discussions. Midterm and final were so easy. No textbook. 10/10

If you're looking for an easy (and fairly interesting) GE, look no further! I highly recommend Ling 1 with Sharvit. Homework was really light (only a few short assignments throughout the quarter), and you got full points on the quizzes in discussion as long as you showed up. Readings were really minimal too, and the midterm and final were both multiple choice and very straightforward.

Sharvit is a wonderful professor. Her exams were extremely straight forward. Just study the lecture slides the night before and you'll be good.

I believe that the class was appropriate for an introductory linguistics course as well as for a GE. The class did seem a little tedious at times, especially before the midterm, but after that it became much more interesting, with my two favorite lectures/topics being syllables and animal communication. However, one downside of the class was the strange wording of the final; some questions were difficult to understand in terms of what they were trying to ask. Overall, this class follows a very clear structure and is not too difficult to follow in terms of content.

This is definitely the easiest Philosophic and Linguistic Analysis GE. There is very minimal work in this class, and the tests are extremely easy (literally go over the slides the night before and you'll be fine). She posts all of the slides online too. Highly recommended.

This class is very simple. Sharvit goes over powerpoints every lecture and the slides are posted every time. You can afford to miss 2 discussions and there is very little homework load. The midterm and non cumulative final are very straight forward based on the homeworks and the slides. Take this class to learn some interesting things and get an A if you put a little work in.

This professor is great and I loved the class. It was not difficult at all. It is fairly easy to get As on most of the homework assignments. However, the final was a bit more difficult than the midterm. For the midterm, most students got an A+ whereas most students got a B- on the final. This is why I ended up with an A-, otherwise, I'd say it is fairly easy to get an A or A+.

Take this class with Sharvit! This class is so easy. The midterm and final are each about 30 multiple choices. The easiest test I have ever taken. You just need to study the slides for the tests. There weren't much material for this class. And the materials are actually interesting. Sharvit makes this class even better.
I didn't really pay attention to the first homework. So I got a C on the first one. Then I went to TA's office hours and got good grades for other homeworks.
This class is so chill and has super light workload.
Take it for an easy A!
