Liu has improved greatly in his teaching and now spends a lot of time patiently going through difficult concepts in lectures, especially when it comes to solving tricky problems.

Liu is a very fair exam setter and will never set impossible questions. All of his questions are manageable and are straightforward enough that can be done with sufficient understanding of the concept or memorization of the formulas in class.

Liu also always makes his quizzes based on the homework that he sets, so that his quizzes are never a problem! I am definitely taking Liu again for my next Math class, so you should too!

I have always been a math person and I honestly enjoyed every bit of material that we were taught. Homework is not mandatory, but the in-section quizzes are straight from the book so I would recommend doing them all very thoroughly. HOWEVER, I thought the tests were extremely unfair. The workload for this class (in terms of things to turn in) is very light, but I spent more time studying for this class than any other. The way he tested did not represent how well I understood the material at all. I think with a different testing style I could have done much better (I even looked at past 32A exams but with other professors and I killed those).

Bottom line is if you test extremely well in math (which does not mean regurgitating homework problems, it means being able to apply concepts to problems unlike any you've ever seen before in a test situation) then this class is for you. It was not for me.
