Professor Zhang was an excellent professor! The stories in the class were super interesting to read and really gives you a different perspective of China/Chinese culture that is usually not talked about in popular discourse. There were four short quizzes which are pretty easy if you pay attention in class and two take home essays which were fun to do and also quite manageable. Although there were lots of readings (Chinese in translation duh) but they were all really fun stories so it was easier to get through them. There was no midterm (just an essay) and there was a final exam formatted in the same way as the quizzes except for an extra essay at the end. I would definitely take a class with her again. She knows her stuff and she's super funny and nice!
