This review is for both Dr.Evans and Dr. Cooper as they both taught. A couple lectures were led by Dr. Evans and a couple by Dr. Cooper. 3 of the lectures were taught by their post-doc students and three lectures were individually taught by a neurologist, psychiatrist, and professor in public policy. All-in-all it was a good class that I learned a lot about cannabis. They were very kind, knowledgable, and respectful. It was entirely online due to COVID restrictions still so don't know if this will be the same format moving forward. Your grade consisted of:

-15% participation: required to be in zoom lecture each week & post on campuswire articles - 4 times & comment on campuswire 6 times

-15% Journal Club Presentation: You and 4-5 other students will be assigned a paper as a group and expected to present on the paper at the tail end of the lecture and then answer questions from other groups.

-20% midterm: all open book, open note. There was one short answer and then a weird 12 questions select-all-that-apply style. There were usually 5-6 statements with check boxes. So essentially each check box you had to know that knowledge to answer. Strange style which I didn't care for

-25% Final: Wasn't cumulative and same open book, open note.

-25% Essay: A week after you present on your journal club paper with your classmates, you have a 6-8 page paper due with 10 references, 5 of which must be peer reviewed. I consider myself a great writer and haven't gotten a B on a paper in a very long time and got an 89% on this, so make sure to put in some time into making it polished and professional. Pro tip: Sign up for the group presentation in the first couple weeks or not around finals/midterms. My group had our presentation the week of midterms and then we had to turn in the paper the next week, which was hell. Do yourself a favor and get it out of the way. I wish I went the first or second week.

Textbook: They posted the reading pdf's each week which I never bothered with reading. Didn't read the papers either. Just listened to lecture and the student's presentations and this was more than enough for the exams.

This class was super fun. The lectures were so fascinating and engaging. The science part of the class was a little tricky, but totally doable. The policy part was much easier to understand/memorize for the tests. Highly recommend this class
