I had a extremely negative experience with this Professor. After class I asked her if the class required previous knowledge, and she asked me where I was from. I could not believe she meant country of origin, so I told her my academic background. But she asked me the question again because she meant country of origin. I answered her and then she said: "Well, here (U.S), we start from the beginning". I was so apalled by this interaction that I mentioned it to an authority within the department. Next time I went to office hours she was extremely hostile and unfriendly. I really look forward to taking the class with someone more profesional and more versed on pedagogy.
The content itself isn't that bad. It's a little challenging if you have no experience with programming/statistics, but the material isn't that complex. The problem is the professor is extremely scattered and does not know how to simplify things. She clearly knows the subject well bur her logic is often very unclear and when asked to clarify she tries but it does not help. I've pretty much had to rely on youtube to get me by, and I'm still struggling. The final project is hard. I've gone to office hours multiple times and she is very willing to help, but I've often left still extremely confused.
This class was 2 hours of boring hell. It was too difficult to pay attention so I often didn't understand the material. She posted slides but they often didn't help with the homework. However, the homework was graded for completion (worth 35% of grade!!) and the midterm/final was fairly easy so I feel like it is an easy A for a stats class. Worst part was a 10 page data analysis paper due 10th week. She didn't grade it too harshly though. Overall, I would avoid if possible.
