The Kelton apartments are really pretty and newly renovated. Whenever we have friends over they always really love the space. The building is not always the quietest, but the on-site building manager is great about communication if people are making too much noise or if we ever made too much noise. When we moved in, we had a few problems with getting the AC and dishwasher to work, along with a few small problems like loose electrical sockets, but we got them fixed promptly and have not had any problems since. My roommate and I pay $50 for two indoor parking spots. To get in the garage, we have electric clickers which is really convenient. We also pay $2700 monthly for a one-bedroom. You can have pets for a small fee (I don't remember quite what it is). The building manager is super sweet and has been very helpful, although sometimes she can be a bit difficult to reach. Overall, my roommate and I have been really happy with the apartment!

If you don't count the McIntire Management that's behind the apartment, then I'd say this is a great deal. It was just renovated and everything's clean and nice. I recommend it if you think you will never have any unforeseeable problems that you may have to move.

This is what I thought when I moved in here, until the recent Corona Virus that stopped classes. The landlord doesn't allow early terminations of lease, even if you are willing to forfeit your security deposit and some month's rent. Which is bad, but fair, understandable. Since we don't have any income during the crisis, I checked if I could sublet the apartment, and the Management's answer was no. I am not allowed to find someone to pay the rent. They also sent a harshly worded email to all of the residents saying that the rent will not be discounted, and basically "we don't care, you're on your own".

My rent is $2650 a month, not including all utilities. It is a fair price for a 1b1b, spacious and quiet, and includes one parking spot. Yet, imagine not going to live here for half a year and still pay that rent every month.

The contract signed between me and the apartment also forbids badmouthing the management on the internet. Severely limiting my freedom of speech.

So in the end, if you think you won't have any problems in the future that may cause you to leave, then feel free, this is a real superb environment to live in.

Please do not rent here. When we moved in there were fleas in our carpet and termites in our bathroom. There is asbestos in the cielings, and I watched contractors affix flat panels OVER the asbestos popcorn to make it look like there are not popcorn cielings in the hall.
Both of our "on-site" managers have been aweful and unreliable.
The management company clearly has little concern about their tennants.

I really recommend against living here. The apartment building itself is extremely old and always having problems. The windows are put on crooked and poorly insulated, the heater vent is disgusting, the sliding doors and closet doors don't even close properly, the bathroom fans are super loud. The carpet is absolutely disgusting. When we moved in, the carpet had not been cleaned and the walls had not been painted, like we had been told they would be. The elevator breaks constantly. Secondly, our apartment has had bugs. The plumbing is awful and the toilets have problems frequently (and yes, they will try to charge you to fix it as if it's your fault.) They are currently doing construction to replace the pipes, and for the next 2 months we will have off and on water supply during the week from 8-5pm. If you want a place that meets basic living requirements like water, don't live here. On top of that, the landlord will decide the night before that every single car in the parking garage needs to be vacated in order for some work to happen. They will not reimburse you for having to park your car somewhere else. Living here is just a huge headache. I hear that they are raising the rent, but our rate right now at $3400 for a 2b2b is already a ripoff for how shitty this place is.

Updated review:
This apartment is a legitimate hell hole. Do not live here if you want to have a decent quality of life. McIntire Management is the most horrible and unreasonable management company I've ever come across. I wouldn't recommend renting ANY apartment managed by these snakes. Do not be fooled by how the apartment looks on the outside or on the first floor. It is a facade. There are bugs, dirty carpets, unreliable appliances and laundry machines, asbestos, dirty walls, and moldy showers. What's even worse is having a management company and owners who could not possibly care less about doing the right thing or treating their tenants with respect. THEY ARE TAKING ADVANTAGE OF STUDENTS. I wonder how they would feel if their college kid was living in a shitty apartment managed by dishonest, immoral, abhorrent people who only care about their bottom line $.

Summary: DO NOT LIVE HERE

DO NOT RENT HERE!

When we moved in, the bathroom had termites, and the carpet had fleas. Neither of these things were dealt with when we asked the landlord and management company for help: I had to buy bug bombs to get rid of them myself.

The new management company (McIntire Management) doesn't care about the tenants, and the landlord (Dominic) either isn't told anything or is extremely unhelpful on purpose. They decided to tell us that construction would be done after it had already began (just before finals week), and give up no notice when the water is turned off. They gave us paperwork suggesting that rent reductions or reimbursements would be available, but when asked about it, we were told no such thing would be given. Everything they do is technically legal, but it is inconsiderate of tenants.

I'm glad I'll be leaving in June. Don't rent here. Go anywhere else.

Awesomely positive review, and tbh one of the very best deals in Westwood. Couldn't have asked for a more spacious 1 bedroom, price was incredibly fair, very minimal maintenance needed.
Let's talk about this landlord... I think he's very misrepresented on Bruinwalk reviews. Aaron is easy to talk to, very flexible with issues, and incredibly sympathetic to the fact that his tenants are busy students that just want to live in a comfortable place at a reasonable price. I was at 507 Glenrock last year which was so awful we had to move... so the change to a reasonably priced place with a chill, fair landlord was a blessing for someone like me who just wants a great hassle-free apartment for a great price.

I lived here for two years. The building is older but the price is great! For under 3k we got a 2b2b with parking spaces. The manager is also really cool. Units are well insulated so being on the 5th floor I didn't hear sound from other units.

The building itself is old, but the apartment was extremely clean when we moved in. The walls were freshly painted and the carpet was new. I don't understand why this place has bad reviews. The rent is reasonable, the apartments themselves are clean (if you yourself are not a pig). We had some issues with a clogged bathtub and sink a couple of times and the landlord ALWAYS sent someone to fix those for us within a reasonable time period. When we had a problem with cockroaches, it's an old building, what do you expect? He sent someone to get rid of them after I called and ask him. Aaron is an amazing person. He takes care of you if you COMMUNICATE with him respectfully. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking to save money and stay at a reasonable quiet building.

The comments below could not farther from the truth. The building manager, Aaron, was the most pleasant and kind landlord I have ever rented with. I lived in the building for two years with 4 roommates and their feelings are consistent. We had several parties in the premises and never had any complaints from Aaron or anyone else. He was quick to fix any apartment-related issues, responded to texts and phone calls, and was readily available on the first floor. It is clear that the negative comments are from unruly former tenets who caused problems or disregarded common decency. Yes, if you are a douchebag who leaves bags of trash around the apartment, you will be evicted. I sincerely caution users in basing their evaluations from these negative comments. Clearly, if a loser doesn't get his/her way, they are quick to post about it. It is very seldom that satisfied customers (like myself) go out of their way to articulate their experience.

The apartment manager, Aaron is terrible. At first he is a really nice guy, too nice probably why everyone thought it was such a good idea to live there. I agree with everyone on this forum. He is super slow at all the repairs and he doesn’t care about his tenants at all. He thinks he know everything and he thinks hes a big shot. She makes you feel worthless and just because he owns the place doesn’t mean he owns you. NEVER NEVER LIVE HERE. WHATEVER YOU DO. You have been warned. We had to live early because he was such a douche. Let the lonely mofo live there by himself.
