FLOOR PLANS
Monthly Rent: $4271 - $4271
My experience in this apartment has been great so far! It’s very apparent it’s a luxury full-service building and staff is always available conveniently on the first floor in the leasing office. The staff and maintenance here are top notch and always accessible and friendly! The building itself is very well-kept and all the appliances are nice and work properly! The interior of the apartment looks newly renovated and elegant. The package delivery system is also very convenient and easy to use. Great apartment with great facilities!
DO NOT LIVE HERE.
Midvale is extremely overpriced. Do not be fooled by the ammentities package. The pool is small and it is not heated (even in the Winter). The gym is VERY SMALL, with few machines. Marie, the property acoount manager is extremely unfriendly and unpleasant. The dryer and washing machines are very poor quality, and you will need to wash and dry your clothes twice through each time if you want them to be clean. Our apartment CONSTANTLY needed repairs, and Midvale had no problem taking their slow time to complete repair requests. I believe Midvale used COVID-19 as an excuse to further rip off Midvale residents. For example, 527 Midvale sent out an e-mail telling all residents the laundramat was CLOSED FOR COVID. My roomates and I had to walk to a friend's building to wash our clothes. MIDVALE IS CORRUPT. There is a $100 charge if you lose your key and are locked out of your room. Marie will tell you that you can either pay the $100 fee or write a good yelp review about Midvale. THIS IS CORRUPT. MIDVALE RUINED MY FRESHMAN YEAR COLLEGE EXPERIENCE.
I lived on the 5th floor in what they told me was one of the largest units. Yes, it was a little pricey, but when dividing it between 5 people it came out to be pretty similar to the prices of other apartments in the area. My unit was extremely spacious and the balcony view was amazing. The management is very respectful and completed my work orders within one day. The trash/service fees are a little steep and you pay for utilities yourself with an outside company. Loved the tanning roof in 540 which residents of 527 also have access to. Only minor complaints are that the Latino Frat across the street can be very loud and laundry cards are expensive and sometimes break. Overall satisfied with my living situation at 527 though!
I am warning everyone to avoid 527 Midvale at ALL COSTS. I paid $2900 a month without utilities included for a small 1 bedroom 1 bathroom apartment (probably 550 sq feet or less)
They want to charge YOU $3475 for this apartment next year.
They redid the pool, is that really worth over a 20% increase per month?
There is constant construction, constant work being done, and they shut off the power and water at least once a month for 9 or more hours.
The office lady is a bitch
The utilities are not included, and you pay for gas, electric, and water twice
We were never compensated for the water and power being turned off, and the construction was supposed to be until August, yet lasted until mid November, without us residents being compensated.
The walls are thin, and you can hear people walking above you.
AVOID living here at all costs, save your money and your sanity.
FUCK MIDVALE
A modern and renovated place to stay that's close to campus, but the hefty rent prices (think $2,600 minus utilities for a studio and over $4k for a two bedroom) and the absurd constant construction noise makes this apartment only a mediocre place to live. Be prepared for loud, constant drilling and hammering that happens EVERY DAY from the morning until evening. Construction will start as early as 8 AM and won't end until past 6 PM. And when I say nonstop noise, it really is nonstop. You can't study or do anything in peace, even in your own apartment. Front doors and glass sliding doors (in not just my apartment but most apartments) have gaps between the door and the floor or ceiling, so there are always insects. Management has yet to take care of this issue. Maintenance workers and the younger staff (like Amber) are friendly and helpful, unlike Marie, the manager, who doesn't treat tenants with respect at all and acts as if we've personally offended her, hence the 3-star rating for staff. You can definitely find better apartments in Westwood for these rates. Save your money and do yourself a favor by avoiding Midvale Plaza.
On the outside, the Midvale Plazas look great. But DO NOT let the pool and fancy package delivery machine fool you. It is THE WORST apartment I have ever lived in throughout my time in Westwood. Here are a few reasons why:
1. Even our newly renovated apartment had major issues. Every time it rained, water flooded into our apartment. Everything was always breaking. The repair people had to come so often.
2. They are always shutting off the water supply during the day for "maintenance problems".
3. BUG CENTRAL-Cockroach infestation. Worst part? I had to pay for the pest control to come spray.
4. LAUNDRY machines are ALWAYS broken, and the card you put money on for laundry NEVER WORKS
5. Elevators are always broken and SO SLOW.
6. The walls are paper thin and I can hear everything from the garbage truck in the morning to my roommates in the kitchen.
7. I have never seen so many spiders inside a building before.
Wifi is really slow during peak hours. The gym is deceptively tiny and consists of a few treadmills, and 4-5 machines for weight lifting. No dumbbells either. The pool is nice though.
Overall the apartments are nice, but for the price, you can probably get more for your money elsewhere.
This place sucks a lot. The main office is really bad at handling people. One worker, whose name I will not mention is rude. Listen, I am paying a really high rent price. That money goes to her salary. Yet, she still talks as if she is my boss or so. Facility handling is so slow. The laundry card balance adding machine is broken. The whole apartment cannot use the laundry machine because of that. It takes 3 weeks already for them to solve the problem. It is not done yet now. I am not sure when it is going to be totally fixed. WIFI is so slow although they put in the advertisement that they have fast connection WIFI. If you want a better life for yourself, get any other apartment in the area.
This place is bad. Bad Bad. If for no other reason, its because of management. They effectively got me kicked off my lease because I complained about mold in the bathroom and water stains on the ceiling (aka the roof as a leaking problem maybe you would like to know). I actually had to get a lawyer and the law office let me know the company had lost some major law suits in recent years. Expensive, not worth it. Don't be miserable.
