Fall 2020 - This prof Vincent is incredibly kind, funny, and engaging. I loved his honesty with notes for my papers. Most of this class consisted of meeting with a group within the class and peer editing as well as reading a few articles and doing textbook questions which were all MC.

Summer 2019 - Professor Wagner is easily the best English teacher I've ever had. He brought his passion and enthusiasm to class every day. The content of the course was extremely relevant to current events and the struggles of marginalized groups, making the class interesting and the assignments enjoyable. After taking this class, I feel like I have truly evolved as a writer. The course was not difficult but it definitely isn't an easy A. There are multiple readings every night, which might be tedious work if you're a slow reader like me. Some people didn't read at all but I think the readings were integral to my success in the coursework. For the essays, many students received Bs and Cs but if you take his suggestions and learn from them you will do just fine.

Winter 2023 - While Professor Wartanian worked hard to be helpful with all our writing, it felt like I was taking my AP Literature class all over again. The lectures were not engaging, grading seemed very unclear at times, and there seemed to be no common themes between the readings and what we were doing. I stopped doing the reading tasks about two weeks into the class as I had already done my reading presentation early, and I only did this because I was relearning rhetoric and writing styles as I had learned in AP Lit. He grades all essays based on how he wants others to write and does not take into account other writing styles when the whole point of all the essays was to be creative with our approach and how we discussed topics. Although unlike other ENGCOMP professors, Professor Wartanian has students turn in all final drafts of an essay during week 10 instead of a set day like other professors. Some people may find this beneficial, but during the last week when you can actually find the time to go over the essays, you have already completely forgotten what the prompt and readings for the first essay are. On top of that, since all the final drafts are the majority of grades, it is extremely hard to figure out your final grade as he does not give an official grade for your rough draft. Some people may like this style, but it seems as if my peers in other ENGCOMP classes found that with a due date after their final draft was due, they were able to effectively write their essays as it is a fresh topic and they are not already moving on the next essay of their three.

Fall 2025 - Watson is a great professor who cares for her students. The subject for my class was AI which we learned about through an assigned book which we read and discussed in class. The classes themselves were engaging and Watson would encourage you to participate, both voluntary and involuntarily. Her class wasn't too hard, general assignments were easy and didn't take too long to complete and we were assigned two essays throughout the quarter. However, you will definitely be participating in the class discussions.

Winter 2021 - MJ is the BESTTTT!!!!!! I highly recommend taking him if you can! He was funny in every lecture, interesting, fun, and helpful. He really made you feel good about not only your work, but as well yourself as a whole. He is more than a professor and is willing to help you in anything, inside or outside of class. I will forever remember him and am confident in labeling him as my favorite professor during my UCLA journey. His unique and funny stories are the best! I am so grateful to have gotten the chance to be in his class, even if it was virtual.
