I took this class with Brown during the Spring Quarter 2020 during quarantine . In general, this was a very great class and overall a relatively easy. There are two lectures per week along with one lab class.
The labs are very easy as the TA goes over everything with you, which means that you are usually finished with the weeks assignment just by attending the section. There are also assigned readings, which I would recommend skimming over them since I did find them somewhat helpful.
Brown assigns weekly quizzes, which are easy points since there are unlimited attempts. I would recommend paying attention during lecture and taking notes as you do NEED to know the material in order to perform well on the midterm and final.
STUDY THE STUDY GUIDE LIKE IT IS THE EXAM! Brown provides a study guide for both the midterm and final so make sure to take them filling everything out. Personally, I found the final to be easier than the midterm and Brown took the best score out the two exams for this quarter.
If you are looking for an easy GE, take this class!

The information in this class is interesting and it is definitely an easy GE, however I felt that the lectures were not as focused as they could have been. Instead of just covering the Jurassic period, Eagle quickly went through the entire history of life on Earth from the first life forms to just thousands of years ago.

I really learned a lot, but it was hard to retain all of the information presented to us. Overall interesting subject and an easy lab component.

best professor ever

she said the word "um" over 400 times in an hour fifteen minute lecture. the only reason I counted was because I would have fallen asleep otherwise!

Very easy class, but also very fun and interesting! Prof Gold really cares about the class and really tries to teach as well as he can to get every student to do well in the course. Lab sections are easy and fun and you can work with partners and TAs will answer questions you have. I'd recommend!

Took this class as my LS GE, and it wasn't hard at all. I went to lectures, some of which i fell asleep in, but they are funny lectures. Good to stay awake and watch. If you read the reader for this class and understand what you need to know, this class is cake. Definately recommended as a GE filler, it's fun and easy, what else could you want?
