Best South Campus professor I have had at UCLA. Amazing, teaches you every topic thoroughly, is very helpful at office hours. Goes over anything and everything without ever being condescending to his students. His exams ACTUALLY COVER WHAT HE TAUGHT IN CLASS. There is usually one tricky problem on his test, but he has to have that so everyone isn't getting 100s. But definitely take Killip if you are given the chance, the man is brilliant. I would do anything for him to be my father. TAKE HIM.

It's funny that he's just a lecturer but never replies email. Maybe first learn how to learn manners, then teach. It's not your fault that you can't do research. Good Luck!

The honor class is small and there is a lot of personal attention, but you are competing with some of the smartest people at UCLA for a good grade. He is generous with the grading but everyone in the class probably got A's in their prior math classes. Only take if you can challenge the best students at UCLA. There are a lot of proofs on the homework, but thats expected of an honors class.

Generally speaking, the number of concepts in this linear algebra class is a bit large, and Neeman is always keen on explaining the connection of all these concepts, which is good for me because I've heard of some of the concept before. For someone who did not get in touch with linear algebra before, I believe it would be a bit overwhelming. However, this does not influence the efficiency of the class because the technique you need for solving problems is properly taught.
For a diligent learner, his teaching style is suitable because he throws lots of insight at you in the lecture and if you do think about them on your way to the restaurant, you can definitely benefit from it.

I had Penneys for 33A (not H) this past quarter. He was an expert in linear algebra and it was part of his own research, so he definitely took the course to another level in terms of his expectations (heavily focused on proofs and deeper understanding rather than easy computations). It was very difficult to keep up with him in lecture but we got used to it and the key was reviewing the notes after class and trying to understand everything he talked about. His exams were pretty fair in my opinion, and I got in A in the class, which I'm pretty proud of considering the level that he expected from us. Overall a good prof.
