He was definitely my least favorite professor of the 3 series. His accent sometimes made it hard to understand him in lecture. His lectures were essentially verbatim from the book, examples and all, and combined with the fact that the classroom had no AC and was unbearably warm, it was easy to just fall asleep. He only had one midterm, which I didn't like, but it wasn't that difficult. The final, on the other hand, was definitely harder and the average was around 60%. My friend went to his office hours a lot and said that he's very nice. He just isn't a very good professor. About half way through the quarter I stopped going to lecture and just took notes from the book and ended up with an A-.

Schaeffer was a fantastic professor for my Math 3C class! He had a great sense of humor and actually made the lectures halfway enjoyable. His tests were fair and taught how well we knew the material he taught us, without including sneaky trick questions like so many other math professors seem to do. Plus he's pretty cute :) Overall, such a great class.
