Description: Lecture, three hours; laboratory, four hours; outside study, five hours. Enforced requisite: Materials Science 104. Manufacturing fundamentals. Materials in manufacturing. Solidification processes. Metal forming processes. Material removal processes. Welding/joining. Rapid prototyping. Electronics manufacturing. Microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) and nanotechnology. Winter 2020 - CJ was awesome, and the class was pretty fun. Lecture could get a little boring, but he was a cool guy so I felt it was worth going. Homework was super easy and straightforward, exams generally drew from the homework, and the project was fun. The machine shop gets really busy and the project takes a while, so get there early. Otherwise great class.

Fall 2023 - Man was this a boring class, but professor is a nice guy and cracks dad jokes all the time. Homework is very easy. It asks very specific questions from lecture that you will not remember, however if you read the textbook its like an 8th grade reading comprehension test. HOWEVER, they are graded harshly and because they are weighted heavily, it feels like a way of separating the class. Exams suck because he does not prepare you, nor does he let you actually see your exam (midterm or final). He makes you go to OH to see it. If you manage to not fall asleep in lectures however, they are not that hard.
