It's a memorization based class. Every lecture is just a bunch of different methods on how to manufacture things and it adds up to just hundreds of slides. Lecture attendance is recorded (kind of?). He tries to note people who show up. Not required, but exams will occasionally have stuff that he only mentions in lecture. Exams are all memorization. He will pull random stuff from the slides and ask about it. Again, all memorization, either you remember what he is asking about or you don't. Very little calculations if any, two of 3 exams had no calculator. No final, but exam 3 is on your last day of class. Depending on the setup of the classroom, he may be very picky about who sits where on exam day (i.e., no more than 2 people sitting together, may split you up if he sees that you sit together too often). Not really sure what his system is, he said that his seat arrangement is intentional but not for our knowledge. Homework is fine as long as you don't turn it in late.

For the machining portion, you can knock it out quick. About a week in machine shop tops. If possible, go with a friend who knows what they are doing so they can help you. During my quarter, they let you argue with the TA and if they docked you for not manufacturing to the drawing but you could prove one area did meet tolerance, you would get points back. CAM portion is kind of annoying and poorly guided. If you have someone who has done it before it is chill but if not, then it will take a long time (maybe the full 3 hours of lab). That's really the only time u have to do anything in there. The other labs you don't need to do anything. First one show up and talk for thirty minutes, then free time to work on your parts, and then CAM session, one hour to see CAM being done next lab, and that's it. I liked this portion more than the other class, but it only makes up like 30% of your grade. Most of your total grade is on the exams.

Grade: A

CJ was awesome, and the class was pretty fun. Lecture could get a little boring, but he was a cool guy so I felt it was worth going. Homework was super easy and straightforward, exams generally drew from the homework, and the project was fun. The machine shop gets really busy and the project takes a while, so get there early. Otherwise great class.
