In my personal opinion, lectures are dense but very interesting. Idan assigns us long empirical papers to read and analyze, which are heavy with jargon. Personally, it's not really something that helped me learn the material better as a newbie with Cog Sci concepts. Unless if he were to go through the concepts and then assign those readings but instead he just goes over the concepts to apply right after we do the assignments, which I find counter productive. I also don't like how part of our grade involves being graded on how we graded other students, primarily with group projects. Beware, he also grades harshly with written content and is very picky with answers and word choice. Miss one concept and you'll go down a grade. Is very subjective with grading. Definitely has some instructor bias. The problem is for the writing assignments and final, he has high expectations but absolutely no clear way to meet them. You can have the correct answers written for his questions regarding the material but still get marked down by a lot. I can tell since after doing the assignments myself when getting grades back, I noticing huge markdowns when comparing my original worded answers to someone else's who scored much higher and had the same correct responses to the given questions. I don't know what else I can tell you. Not reasonable. Not for me. Nice guy though.

The whole class was asynchronous and she didn't even have office hours so she just posted lectures and required us to do the textbook readings. The lectures were long and full because she was nocturnal and filmed everything at night, so she was always whispering. I ended up dropping the class during week 10 because I knew I was failing it. The midterm was incredibly hard and the grading on the video presentations was harsh, so I didn't stand a chance. I dropped the class.

The class was very interesting and also very easy. Courtney is really approachable and always willing to answer any questions you may have. The slides are posted and the exams questions come from information straight from the slides, so the textbook is unnecessary. Overall, a fun and chill class.

Selling my Paperback Course Reader. It has some light underlining in it, but other than that is in really good condition. I took this class in Fall of 2020, but used a Course Reader from 2018- which Kellman said was totally fine. He's swapped out some of the readings, so note that this reader might not have ALL of the readings you need for your quarter, but when I took this course, my class mates were kind enough to send me PDF's of the articles I was missing. The readings are DENSE and your grade is based entirely on discussion of the readings, so it was definitely helpful for me to have a hard copy as opposed to the online PDF version. $40 (includes shipping).
