Couldn't have been a better class administrator, and couldn't have been a better lecturer! Nothing else you can really ask for in a math prof, imo.
Adam is a G. Made the class so doable. I was very intimidated by this class when I took it with another professor so I dropped it. I'm glad I took it with Adam. Lectures are very clear, homework is meaningful yet not overwhelming. If you studied, you'll do well. Bless this man.
Adam is an amazing Professor. He made 115A so digestible and intuitive. I honestly did not like linear algebra that much coming into this class and struggled a bit in 33a but Adams teaching really made me appreciate the topic a lot more. He was always super fair and accommodating and would entertain any questions. Would take every other math class with him if I could
I took MATH 33B during my freshman year. To be honest, it was not a wise decision. Please take 33B at least along with 33A. Otherwise, you would miss out on the linear algebra part and it can be dangerous (I didn't know what dimension was when I was taking the final. Fortunately, the exam was open book and 24 hours due to the pandemic. But imagine what would happen if it's a 3-hour exam in a lecture hall).
But the living legend, Adam Moreno, made it possible for me to get that solid "A". Please don't hesitate if you have an opportunity to take any MATH class with him. He's definitely the best Math professor you could expect. I got to know him when I was still taking MATH 31B and struggling with the guy named Brizolis in Fall 2019. Moreno was teaching the previous MATH 31B session and I went to one of his classes as an audition. I remembered that he was able to explain everything so clearly that I immediately made up my mind to sign up for his class in Winter 2020.
About the class itself, fair grading methods and really fair exams, weekly assigned homework but with doable amount of workload, and the best part is that Moreno does not expect you to know anything before you come to class. But when you are leaving the classroom 50 minutes later, you might have already established a decent understanding of the materials. Then a little bit of study every week and some revision before the exam will help you succeed.
By the way, to anyone who's planning to take Moreno's class in the future, please help me count how many Disney T-shirts he has. He's an interesting guy and that's probably something that drives me to go to every single one of his classes lol.
A fantastic professor and a very understanding guy. He had very well-organized and interesting lectures and answered questions spectacularly well. The lectures had a flow to them that kept them engaging but not overwhelming, and the homework was similarly structured. There weren't many required problems on them, but there were a lot of extra practice problems that could be used for studying or mastery. This made the class much more manageable, as the material isn't easy. The tests were also reasonable, for as long as the work was put in, a good grade could be achieved. They definitely weren't easy, but they always felt fair. Overall, he's a great professor and I can't recommend him enough. He's a nice guy with a passion for the subject and a real skill for teaching, and he always makes the math seem approachable and doable.
Also I'd recommend attending his office hours, they're super helpful as he is great at answering questions.
He's a great lecturer. To most people, it was a good experience but for me, I am not that good with conceptual questions so the exams were pretty tough and I didn't do well (even though others did). However, the TAs were amazing and the HW was reasonable and light and I understood the material. There was no curve or extra credits which I found to be kind of tough but normal for a math class. We did get a 1% extra for doing the evaluation. I watched lectures but also got so much help from youtube videos of the organic chem tutor. Overall, if you did not take AP classes or feel like you lack in the conceptual side and you value your grades more than your understanding, I would recommend taking another professor.
Fantastic teacher and if I had the opportunity to take any classes from him again, I would. Weekly homework was not too difficult, but most importantly the lectures were clear to understand and engaging. Would recommend.
I suck at / despise Math but Adam's engaging teaching style and approachable personality made it at least tolerable. He is a really cool guy and clearly knows his stuff. He rarely stumbles over himself in lecture and has a firm grasp on all the material, teaching at a fast yet manageable pace. Highly recommend this wonderful man as a professor.
